Helical Cutterhead & Long Table

I picked this jointer/planer because it had a long table, helical cutterhead, and within my budget. I spend quite bit of my time gluing and clamping long boards. I chose the helical cutterhead because my experience dictates it is superior to knives. I converted my Grizzly G0505 12 1/2" planer to a helical cutterhead years ago. The planer's performance with a helical cutterhead is far superior to the knives that came with the equipment. I use hardwood in my shop (maple, oak, walnut, cherry) and the knives needed to be replaced or sharpened frequently. Set-up is pretty simple. It was easier to watch a video on line than to read the manual. I had never done any 45 degree planning and I used it on a project. It was sweet taking the 45 degree on the table saw and running it across the jointer/planer. It gave me a very nice joint.

Really incredible jointer for the money!

So far I’m loving this jointer. Out of the box it was square and parallel, no need for any adjustments from me, and it is really quiet! It has been great for milling white oak, I’m looking forward to trying it with other species as well.

An awesome jointer

I normally think that paying more for something means it will be better. However, after looking at a lot of reviews online I decided to buy the Grizzly G0858 parallelogram jointer. I have been very impressed with this machine! It was perfectly aligned out of the box, cuts beautifully, and runs quietly. I cannot imagine I would have gotten a better machine from one of their "high-end" competitors at twice the price. Thanks, Grizzly!

Good jointer

Easy to setup. The biggest issue was getting the jointer off the pallet. The jointer very quickly was surfacing wood cleanly and smoothly, with minimal adjustments.
