Gabapentin is commonly prescribed to manage seizures and epilepsy, as well as to provide pain relief. Gabapentin is indicated for use in dogs, cats, and horses. It works by affecting the nerves and chemicals in their body that cause seizures and pain, helping keep symptoms under control . Your veterinarian may prescribe Gabapentin for pets with idiopathic epilepsy, seizures caused by neonatal hypoxia, or for pain management. How it Works

Gabapentin is an anti-epileptic medication, also called an anticonvulsant. It affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain.

Special Precautions

Gabapentin is eliminated from the body almost entirely by the kidneys and urinary tract. Therefore, gabapentin should be used cautiously in animals suffering from kidney disease.
