Q: What length do you need?

1 Answer
  • A: For the Frost King 6 ft. Automatic Electric Water Pipe Heat Cable Kit, you should match the cable length as closely as possible to the length of the pipe you need to protect; therefore, you need a pipe that is approximately 6 feet long. The manufacturer recommends using a cable that is not longer than the pipe you need to protect.

Q: Can this be used inside bathroon to heat about 4 inches of copper pipe and shut off valve?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Jana, According to the vendor: Yes, the customer can use it for this purpose, but they would have to use a smaller heat cable – the HC3 – 3 ft. for this use otherwise there is way too much excess and you can’t overlap the cables. Tractor Supply does not buy the HC3 3-foot item so it would need to be a special order.

Works well. Thawed outdoor hydrant.

We wrapped it around a frozen outdoor hydrant (wrapped around because it’s too long to align straight with a hydrant) and it thawed it quickly.
