Don't recommend tree pole

I've had for a year but only cut small branches and used the saw which worked okay. However, found the product deficient due to so much plastic. It broke when cutting a larger branch, wasn't more than inch, with the lopper. Interesting that a chain drive has plastic. Won't buy again! Part is not available probably due to issues. EXPENSIVE for poor quality

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Chain-drive Extendable Pole Saw & Pruner. We’re sorry to hear that the lopper mechanism didn’t hold up—especially after light use. The tool is designed to handle high branches with control and power, and it should certainly be able to manage branches of that size without failure. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to visit our warranty page: https://www.fiskars.com/en-us/customer-service/warranties

Deserves a 5 star review

Now have used this product for more than 9 mos. Completely satisfied with mechanics of product and capability to cut and saw branches at many heights. Depending on your personal upper body strength, it can be a little heavy. I used several other brands prior to this and definitely Fiskars has best for the price.

Good but blade breaks easy.

Worked great until the blade broke. I contacted the company. They sent me a replacement but it's not the right blade. Contacted them again and no answer from them since. Can't find a replacement blade in stores.

Set the Blade up Correctly First

I think this is a fairly good trimmer, but I don't have a lot to compare it to. I partly cut through the string/cord when trying to prune, but I hadn't read the instructions and was trying to use the pruner with the saw blade in the shipping position versus the position you're supposed to put it in when you do the initial setup. Damaged as it was, the string broke when I was part way through pruning a fairly heavy branch, which left the pruner stuck up in the tree. Fortunately, a neighbor happened by, saw my predicament, and got his pruner and cut the offending branch. I retied the string and set up the blade right, and then it worked okay. Depending on the wood, 1/2-inch might be what the pruner can reliably cut through - maybe 3/4-inch. When fully extended, the pole bows quite a bit while pruning thicker branches. The string/cord doesn't seem the strongest; it's kind of thin and stretchy. I was able to saw larger branches. Mostly I used this on a mesquite, maybe a Chilean mesquite, so hard wood anyway.

Poor design

Purchased seven months ago. Became increasingly problematic. Now the nylon cord is obstructed somewhere in the hollow depths of this monster making it unusable. Everything is stuck. Given its price I am simply treating as disposable. Recommend that you purchase a higher end product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I now own several of these and have discarded the other ones of different brands. The extendable feature is far superior and the shearing blade cuts really well. Fantastic for preparing tree stands.

What I expected and hoped for

It was what I expected. No telescoping pole extended to 16' is going to be very stable, but I was able to cut 8" branches fully extended. Features are good and work well. Saw blade is nicely aggressive.

Cord broke on first use

Cord broke the first time I used it. It's called "chain drive" but the chain only runs from the pulley to the blade. It has a nylon cord that goes from the handle to the plastic pulley. The cord is simply folded over and heat-welded to secure it in the pulley. The heat weld let go under moderate tension. Otherwise this is an improvement over the last model. Ovalized handle is stiffer. Saw is OK. But I had to repair this myself to finish the job I purchased this for, and now I have to file a warranty claim. Disassembly and reassembly of the head was difficult because it's not made to be serviced by the user, and is all plastic.

Flimsy construction, not built to last

The little plastic piece that juts out from where the saw attaches and keeps the saw in place broke off rendering the entire unit useless. Seems like a major design flaw to have such a critical part of the saw made with cheap plastic that can easily break off or be worn down. I would expect something designed for cutting tree limbs to be rugged enough to withstand the process of cutting tree limbs...

No, I do not recommend this product.

Mostly great features, awesome reach

I bought this 16' pruner about a week ago and used it for the first time yesterday. I didn't have any major issues with it. I do think as the other reviewer pointed out that the head portion that holds the saw should not be so cheaply made with plastic. Other features that I liked was the long reach, the chain drive cutter with a strong spring that retracts well, the holes in the handle help hold the handle length adjustment along with the clamps, rather than just the clamps alone, and finally, the aluminum inner pole handle seems pretty solid when fully extended. Cons: I didn't like the plastic parts on the head.

Yes, I recommend this product.
