- A: It is simple to use the Schumacher Electric Farm and Ranch FR01576 to charge your 12V car battery. With your vehicle and all its accessories off, connect the charger’s clamps to the battery. Refer to your car’s owner’s manual to determine if you have a negative- or positive-grounded vehicle. Modern vehicles sold in the US should be negative grounded. If your car is negative grounded, connect the positive (red) clamp to the positive post of the battery and then connect the negative clamp to the vehicle chassis or engine block. Once connected, plug the charger into an AC electrical outlet. Next select your battery type and then your desired charging rate, either 6<>2A or Boost. Used this charger to charge a completely drained AGM battery. I used the 2 amp slow charge and it showed the percentage of charge progress as it worked and fully charged the battery in 6 hours. Directions leave a lot to be desired. Packaging could be a little stronger.

It works well. The instructions manual leaves a little bit to be desired. It's very hard to figure out what the symbols on the face of the unit mean, since they are not displayed in the instructions manual. But it does work well.
