This product is excellent for seeding, I am a professional landscaper and we use EZ straw all the time. Even if you water new seed daily, it can still dry out if not covered, which will quickly kill the seed. EZ straw solves that problem very simply and because it's chopped so finely it won't leave a huge mess like regular straw.

Full of grass seed

I used this last year for my vegetable garden and flowerbeds. I ended up with some type of grass growing in all the beds where I used this. And it wasn't the grass from my lawn. Took me forever to get it weeded out. If you're using to cover/grow grass seed - probably fine. But for other beds, I'd proceed with caution.

I usually use pine straw aka pine needles as the mulch to cover my soil in all my garden beds (raised and in ground). However, for some reason I thought to give this Seeding Mulch a try this year. WHAT A HORRIBLE MISTAKE that was! After years of getting my beds to be weed free I now have so much "grass" growing everywhere I put this "mulch' and not the same type of grass I have in my yard. It definitely is a seeding mulch as it DOES grows seeds. If you want to plant grass in your yard then this would be awesome. If you want to garden, this is NOT the mulch to use, unless you love extra weeding. What a mess!

If you're a landscape guy, this will work for you. Especially since you're not gonna be the guy that has to pull all the grass weeds that come from it. If you've spent time, money and effort removing all the weeds prior to using it for a vegetable garden and really enjoyed the weeding part, you're in luck. You'll spend hours pulling the weed grass contained in this straw. Last time I will use this product. I'm an old man and will probably have to let part of the garden go because I can't keep up with the weeds that germinate from the straw.

I enjoy using my EZ straw with my garden beds and container plants. It doesn’t break down easily meaning that it lasts a whole season and possibly more. My only issue is the deliberate weeding that must be done the first few weeks after you dropped your new straw. I know it says it is 99% free of issues but I would say it’s 90% free of seed issues. Yet still, my plants are very happy and the straw withholds when blowing it all over the place and it does a great job. This is my fourth season using it and I see myself using this ongoing.

EZ straw a must for container/raised bed gardens

Watering my plants and veggies has been a challenge this year in SC. Weather has beem so unpredictable. EZ straw has made things easier for moisture retention and the sun baking the soil especially with container amd raised gardening. The package was bigger than expected. Price was great. Fast online ordering and being able to see actual store inventory made the purchase was also great so that you didnt waste gas going to stores with no product.

Absolutely junk. Nothing more than regular straw. There is nothing tacky about. Watered watered and watered more still no tack. Blew right away with the first little breeze. Bought 3 bales what a waste of time, grass seed and water.

ordered curb side pickup of the 2.5 ft bedding straw and received a 1 ft bag. Called the store and they apologized as they had no 2.5 in stock. Would not give me credit unless I drove 30 minutes back to town. Called AND sent an email to customer support and never even received a response. Extremely poor customer service or should I say Lack there of.

Wind blew it away 3 days after putting it over my grass seed. Watered every day and still blew away. It also doesn't cover as much as it says if you want at least a half inch cover. Do not buy this if you are expecting it to stay put like advertised.Couldnt see/feel any "tack".

EZ to mulch the veggies

I've been using EZ straw for 3 years now. This large bag is at a really nice price point and it'll get me through this season's veggie garden in raised beds. It helps keep water and dirt off the plants, helping them stay disease free longer.
In the past I've been buying the 1-ft bag and I am really happy to get this larger size close to home. EZ straw is easy to lay in by handfuls and add more during the season. The one surprise is there are some seeds in it and you get some green growing hay? But occasionally I'll just pull it out. It comes up easily and I don't look at it as a problem.

I was very excited to use this straw mulch for the first time! I ordered two of them. One of myself and the other for my son. I placed it throughout my 4x8 garden bed and all my peppers, growing in 15 gallon pots. Yesterday I spent time pulling out all of the hay sprouts, after our winter rains. It's definitely not 99% weed free, as advertised!
