The Earthquake Walk Behind String Mower, powered by a 160cc 4-Cycle Viper engine with, is the perfect all-terrain tool for making short work of your trimming and brush clearing tasks. In contrast to push mowers or hand-held trimmers, the Earthquake String Mower is designed to help you go where mowers can't while eliminating the back strain associated with carrying heavy equipment all around the yard. Best option short of a bushhog!

This Walk Behind String Trimmer is a beast when it comes to clearing the path around you. Its .155 diameter string holds up really well and the 21.5" replacement line is easy to change when it does run out. It is fantastic on level ground. However, its downfall is that it is a bear to push uphill and a little tough to hold back on the downhill.

Underpowered, bogged down in 4" to 6" grass and weeds, not for use on uneven ground. Needs multiple line attachments rather than just two, difficult to control cutting depth/length of material.
Nose is bulky and will not allow close cropping unless the trimmer line is at maximum length, trim line provided is consumed very quickly. Recoil start requires near horizontal pull, too low, needs throttle control other than bar on handle to engage and disengage trimmer head,
Oil dipstick difficult to check; tucked location and threaded. Reviews appear misleading, perhaps the newer model version with throttle control, self propelled, head drive lever, and re-located recoil start will address some of these issues...

I bought this to maintain around my pond on the edges that I can’t get my big mower to. It exceeded my expectations. What took me several hours with a weedeater, I finished in just under an hour. It also looks way better than the weedeater. Knee high thick grass and small shrubs were no match. Highly recommended!

Poorly designed trimmer Head

The good: The engine runs well and the wheels are big and wide and it rolls easy.
The bad: The little metal loops that the string attaches to break easily. I have had the loops break off my first machine within 30 days. TSC replaced it without issue. The same thing happened to the replacement machine so tractor supply refunded my money and the extra money that I purchased the extended warranty.
Previously I purchased a cub cadet walk behind string trimmer that lasted 8 years of heavy use. TSC no longer carries this unit.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Works OK but has some design problems.

The good:
It clears ground pretty well and has a good amount of power. It's easy to swing around to hit things from multiple angles. It starts easily and runs well. It was comfortable to use. I like being able to let go of the hand bale and keep the engine running.
The bad:
It was always getting stuff wound around the output shaft inside the cutting head cylinder. If I adjusted it up to try and avoid that, it didn't happen as much but was harder to clear. Also that meant raising the cutting height. The cutting head is attached to the output shaft by two allen bolts. In order to clean out the cutting head you have to remove the spinning disc at the bottom, loosen those two bolt, and then pull the head off. Sometimes you have to smack it pretty hard to get it off. The first time I put it back together I did not tighten the bolts enough, and the spinning disc fell off and the cutting head slipped down. I reassembled and tightened them further, but it is only a matter of time before they strip or break off in there.
Also, in order to fully open the air filter cover, you have to remove the left wheel. What genius design engineer thought that was a good idea? The same one who designed a car that you have to remove the engine from the bay to change the spark plugs?
I returned it to the store. Now that I have some experience with this type of machine I can select a better one.
