Q: Can these be planted in fall or just spring?

  • A: It can be planted in either spring or fall. In spring, I would recommend planting the wildflowers when the daytime air temperatures are consistently over 60 degrees. For planting in fall, we recommend waiting until it’s cold enough so the seeds won’t germinate (~ground temp 45 degrees).

Q: Does the soil need to be prepared

  • A: Yes, we recommend raking the soil to remove any debris, and loosening the top 1-2 inches of the soil before applying.

Q: Is the wildflower mix safe for growing around a septic system?

  • A: We recommend using caution when planting Earth Science wildflower mixes around a septic system as the plant roots may interfere with drainage pipes.

So many flower varieties!

Although it did take a bit longer to bloom then I anticipated, when they did come in the flowers were quite stunning. In 5C I planted in May and they bloomed in OCTOBER! Delphinium, aster, daisies, cosmos, poppy, marigold, knights spur, clover, zinnia, catchflies and so many more.

Great seeds - but no flowers, only basil.

Was surprised to get an amazing crop of basil from this mix - with a couple of wildflowers mixed in. I guess someone messed up during packaging.

I used a mix, one bag of this and one bag of the hummingbird mix, same brand. I wrote a longer review, with a few recommendations, on the other product - but the basic premise is that I had fantastic luck both last year and this year. The only improvement would be if these were all native species flowers. I may search for that in the future, but if that's not a priority for you, this is an easy way to have a flourishing and pollinator-happy garden.

I use this product for the first-time last year and was able to grow a very good quality of flowers. As a result, I saw numerous butterflies and hummingbirds. Looking foward to a second year with same results

Lots and lots of flowers!

I bought 2 bags to plant on a hill by the bayou behind the house. I’m sure if I had planted them in a good seed bed, they would have done better. I’m definitely going to amend the soil and replant again before spring time.
