Dr. Naylor Livestock Dehorning Paste prevents horn growth on calves, sheep, or goats. Dehorning paste for goats is made for pre-adult animals. Do not apply dehorning paste for cattle more than once.
- Directions For Use: Apply once on all animals: Be careful to apply thin, even coating of Dehorning Paste, and only as directed; Remove hair over horn button with shears or clippers in order to see that application is in right place and in direct contact with skin
- Young Calves: As soon as horn button can be felt, remove hair over bud and adjacent area with shears or clippers; On animals under one 1 week old, apply thin, even film of Dehorning Paste over bud and on small ring of adjacent skin about the size of five-cent coin (20mm); On animals over seven (7) days old, apply paste to a larger spot the size of a quarter (25mm)
- Older Calves: To dehorn calves six to eight weeks old whose horn buttons have started to grow, remove hair and use a small scraper or file to roughen a ring of skin about 3/8 inches wide around base of horn button; Do not draw blood; Apply thin even film of paste over horn button and roughened ring around base of horn button
- Lambs & Kid Goats: Apply Dehorning Paste as soon as possible after birth if animal is in good physical condition. Minimum discomfort is experienced after application is facilitated. Application of the paste on lambs and kids over 2 weeks old is generally too late to prevent future horn growth, as the horns are too large, especially in males. Buck kids (males) usually have palpable buds at birth. Doe kids (females) are a little slower in developing horns. Clip the hair over and around horn buds. Apply a thin, even film of Dehorning Paste over buds and to a narrow ring of skin at the base of the horn bud. This ring of skin grows the horn. Too thick an application may result in deeper penetration and activity with discomfort. Dehorn dairy bucks at 3 to 4 days; dairy does at 4 days and always before 10 days. Pygmy bucks should be dehorned at 7 days; pygmy does at 7 to 10 days. Twenty to thirty minutes after paste application, scrape off paste and carefully neutralize treated area by carefully flooding with water, then vinegar. The wash water/vinegar must not come in contact with animal's eyes. Kids and lambs may be wrapped in a blanket for a short period to prevent rubbing treated area with their hooves.
- To help contain dehorning paste, prior to application, form ring of Dr. Naylor Udder Balm or petroleum jelly just beyond paste application area
- If treated calves are confined in pens tie them away from other animals to prevent rubbing paste on each other
- Do not allow freshly treated animals to nurse until paste has dried
- Keep treated animals out of rain for at least 6 hours after Dehorning Paste has been applied
- Dehorning paste comes in 4 oz
- Do not apply more than once
- Can be used as dehorning paste for goats or dehorning paste for cattle

Used as directed, did nothing but blister the skin around the horn, causing all the hair to fall out Applied twice and it did absolutely nothing to the horn or its growth.
