Great everyday axe

This definitely lives up to the hype. Remained sharp as it sliced thru ash and oak rounds. Its head design made the wood split easier and requires less effort to get through the hard woods.

Solid axe

This is a solid feeling heavy duty axe. I have used it for mutliple camping trips and chores around the house so far it is holding up well and im pretty abusive to my tools.

Great feel and well balanced.

It is well balanced and swings nicely. I like it better than my old axe. I like that it has the overstrike protection as that does come In handy at times. I also like the cover that goes over the head to keep the sharp edge covered when moving around and in storage so nothing accidentally gets cut or damaged. I am pleased with the axe and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a replacement or upgrade to their current one.

Quick and effective

Splitting axes are a great option when you don't have a power splitter available. The lighter head (as compared to a traditional maul) lets you get a very fast swinging speed, driving the head down through the log. Of course, if it's especially gnarly or twisted, you're going to have a hard time regardless of the method, but this Crescent splitting axe is a great tool for filling your wood stack. The weight is concentrated in the head with a lightweight, composite handle, which further helps you deliver a strong blow to the log. The bit shape widens quickly to force the wood apart and split easily. I do appreciate the steel headlock design that protects the handle from a poorly-aimed hit, as I'm not great at consistently hitting the log on target. However, the plastic surrounding the steel headlock is quite soft and quickly shows gouges and scrapes. I have no doubt that the axe handle is structurally sound and will stand up to my amateur abuse of it, but it's not great to see a record of your bad aim 😄. The sheath is pretty cheap and I don't trust the elastic to last long before it stretches out and becomes useless. I'm sure I'll have many years of use with this axe to keep my woodpile well stocked.
