I purchased this trap six months ago to try to control the squirrels and rabbits as it advertises where everybody talks about I purchased this trap six months ago, in hopes of controlling the squirrels and rabbits in my yard. as I read through the reviews, everyone talks of how great it was constructed true but this trap wouldn’t catch a mouse little on a squirrel or a rabbit. I’ve tried everything with it. It’s a dud. I would never advise anybody to use one of these traps, they’re worthless.

Bought this trap to replace a smaller unit. Had a problem with squirrels jumping from the wooden fence onto the roof. The first month I’ve caught 8 squirrels,4 rats, and one opossum. One of the squirrels rocked it off the top of the wooden fence. Fell 8 feet. No damage and door remained closed. Used acorns for bait. Happy camper with this unit,

This is a squirrel catching machine. I have trapped 15 in two weeks. Just wrap the back half of the trap in duct tape all of the way to the front of the handle. Tape around and under the release mechanism, so that it still operates properly. The tape blocks out light and makes the squirrel feel at home. Then use a block of wood or the bottom of an old container as a platform for bait. Bait it with peanut butter and seeds and place it to the rear of the trigger plate. Put the trip hook under the door bar. If you have trouble with the trap releasing, using a set of needle nose pliers to slightly bend the hook. Set the trap out in an area with squirrels. Then wait. You will catch squirrels in no time. To release just push in on door retention mechanism, and lift the door up. I usually transport with a towel over the trap to keep them calm. When you open the trap with the towel over the trap to expose only the exit the jump out quicker. This trap is well made and is all metal. That way the squirrels can't chew through it. Most of the other big box stores are selling traps with plastic construction. Believe me the squirrels can destroy those in no time.

very hArd to set

After purchasing 3 other brands (ALL of which had a huge amount of excellent reviews by the way) This was the only one that actually worked and with ease on me being able to catch 5 stray cats so they could be fixed and released. I love that it has a latch to keep it from going off so cats are able to get familiar with it prior to me setting it for catching them. It also worked perfectly for the cats to stay contained while they very much were wanting out and believe me it was tested! My vet recommended putting a large towel or blanket over it so they could calm down and that worked really well. 3 of the 5 I was able to keep the cat in the trap overnight and took them to the vet the very next morning to get fixed. They did good in the trap the whole time. I got the same brand in a smaller size to catch a kitten. I highly recommend CountyLine live traps!

Very nice and efficient live trap. Works great, for the purpose I intended it for. Having a lrg rat problem and this trap works great. Catch the nuisancesand take them far away from where I live.

First, I should note that I was able to use 2 of these to traps to successfully relocate 19 problem squirrels from my property. It’s pretty easy to catch squirrels. My problem with these traps is that your position is basically compromised to the animal during release. Hold this lever, push that latch, and then try to open the door to the inside.All without having the animal bite you. Squirrels run away and it’s fine but I can’t imagine trying to release a really mad possum or raccoon. LOL.

Great purchase with extra cage

I bought 3 of these traps to conduct a Trap-Neuter- Release program in my neighborhood. Two of them worked fine, the third one malfunctioned 3 times. The trigger rod never worked right, so I had to eliminate that trap. I used an old Havahart I had, but it was a little smaller, and not ideal for the job. The bad trap is now sitting in my garage. I’ve been using Havahart traps for decades, but I thought I would try the County Line brand because it was cheaper, and I could get it quickly. I have mixed feelings about it now, which is why I gave this review a 3.

We purchased these to catch rabbits eating everything in our garden. These cages are way too small to catch rabbits, they cannot enter them, only squirrels were caught and immediately released.

Mr. Ground Hog was too big for a 7 x7 cage...

Put peanuts in the back of trap to catch a squirrel that is in the house.  Squirrel ate all of the nuts but trap did not work.

Cheap made, gust of wind will set trap off. Poorly made product. Very disappointed for the price.

It ok for small animal like rabbit however the trigger to close the cage door is not sensitive. Its kind of loose. Rabbit was able to eat the bate without triggering the gate closure. Had to do some changes to make it work
