Used the machine for about 4 hours in that time the bag ripped at the seam. Machine struggled with 2"& 2-1/2" and jammed up requiring a couple hours of dismantling of the unit

The machine works well. The rubber in both inputs are to ridged and make it difficult to feed material. Shipping caused damage to the muffler cover and the frame around the base of the hopper. I had to bend the hopper to make it fit.

Missing Nuts And Bolts

I haven't had a chance to use it yet because I haven't been able to fully assemble the machine. There were two missing bolts and two missing nuts. I'm a capable mechanic and assembler, so that's not the issue. The hardware simply wasn't included in the box. Very disappointed that I spent so much money to have this issue. I will purchase the correct hardware as opposed to returning the mostly assembled machine. I guess a rating of three stars is probably higher than it deserves at this point, but I'm being optimistic. I wonder if anyone will respond to this comment to compensate, or if this is just escaping air in an elevator.

Wood chipper

I needed to replace my old chipper . So, I purchased this one. It does as advertised. It is lite enough to transport in my small SUV as long as the the hopper is unbolted.I think of that as a bonuses. The only issue is the catch bag, it does like to spew out chips no matter how I tighten the end. Otherwise it performs very well

You'll get the best results when you use the bottom chute. But to be honest 3 in is a little bit of a stretch. It chews up the 2-in just fine anything bigger than that it does struggle. And if you feed anything through the top shoot it doesn't create good chips. But overall it's perfect for the occasional use by a homeowner

Not what I was expecting from Champion

Not what I was expecting quality wise after reading all the hyped up reviews. The nut on the chute is welded crooked and can’t get the handle so screw in so it can be used and when I went to check the spark plug the rubber wire literally fell of from being cut mostly by the metal guard over the spark plug boot. It does handle branches that are curved some better than I expected. Good machine just disappointed in the build quality of it. Very difficult to get in touch with company.

I think the wood chipper is fantastic! The only things I would change on it is how the bag mounts to the shoot, and also how it grinds the leaves. I was having leaves come out semi-whole after going through the chipper.

Champion quality was not there!

Chipper/shredder had four factory defects that I had to repair before and during the initial use. Axle was cross, threaded, and required re-tapping, adjustable shoot knobs also required rethreading as I could not tighten them all the way, clean out cover had one bolt that was either crossed, threaded or over, tightened and broke during removal, requiring me to drill the bolt out reap, and then insert a bolt from the inside and tack weld that bolt, which is how it should’ve been done in the beginning. The wheels were extremely sloppy and moving at 200 feet from storage to area of use literally caused them to start to warp. Had to modify them with metal shims to keep from wobbling. Approximately five hours to make repairs and make this tool usable.

Broken chipper/shredder

This is my second unit. The first stopped working due to a broken sparkplug wire after about 100 hours of use. About 30-50 hours later is suffered a hard stop (jammed on a piece of wood). It wouldn't start again. The Woodruff key was intact. The head gasket was blown. After the head gasket was replaced it ran for a few minutes until the crankshaft broke. Not a good experience but it's the right size for my requirements and the altitude we live at. Took a chance and bought a second one.

A Great Little Tool!

I recently bought this chipper/shredder and have been totally impressed with its performance. It starts easily (though it requires a good pull!), runs smoothly, and eats up woody brush and small limbs efficiently. (Be sure that what you put into it is not wet or totally green, especially larger limbs as it may clog). We put smaller green freshly cut shrub trimmings into it with no problems--just do not rush a large volume through... Easy to wheel around and position--heavy enough to prevent movement during use... the bag is great but does fill up quickly--but it is easy to remove, empty, and reattach for the next round. No issues--very happy!

Broken within 20 minutes, Support Email Unanswered

This is rated as up to 3", but a branch well within that limit caused a jam which pushed the blades into the housing, shearing off a section and preventing the unit from running. I've reached out to support via their preferred email option with pictures of the branch and the damage and have been ghosted.
I hope to eventually update this review when I have a repaired product and can evaluate it for more than 10 minutes. However, at the moment, I've paid a lot of money for a product that underperformed specifications and support that has not done anything.

This thing is a beast!

I bought this item about 5 months ago and have now have approximately 10 hours of use with it. The primary reason for my purchase is I have 20+ trees and shrubs and annual trimming fills my 6 cubic yard dumpster multiple times. No longer! This thing is a beast and performs well beyond my expectation! This chipper eats anything thrown at it as long as it fits in the feeder. I've only managed to bog it down once and that was from a 2.5 inch wide by 6 foot long piece of live oak that was still green. Had I cut it in half, I don't think the chipper would have had any problem with it. The chips output are small and compact. I can do all of my required trimming and still have space in my dumpster! When properly choked or after use, it always starts on the 1st or 2nd pull.

I BOUGHT THIS A MONTH AGO.IT STARTS VERY WELL.MY ISSUES ARE IT PLUGS UP EASILY WHEN FEEDING DRY MAPLE LEAVES INTO IT.IT DOESNT SEEM TO SHRED LEAVES AS GOOD AS I EXPECTED.

While the unit is designed to handle typical yard debris, dry leaves can be especially light and fibrous, which may cause them to bridge or compact inside the housing rather then feed smoothy through the cutting system. to help improve performance, we would recommend mixing small twigs or slightly damp material to promote more consistent flow through the cutting chamber.

Very durable and heavy duty shredder for branches and leaf mulching. Has worked very well. Good gasoline usage too, doesnt run out quickly at all.

Very powerful, works as advertised. The unit was able to chip branches that were less than perfectly straight. In the event that debris managed to jam the machine, the removable cover made it easy to clear the jam.

Best Bang For Your Buck!

I spent hours online watching videos and researching comparative machines that wouldn't break my budget. I found this to be the best for the price and possibly even better than higher priced units from other manufacturers. What sold me on this model is that it has 2 chipper blades. Most other manufacturers list only one chipper blade. Its 224cc engine is powerful and handled all of my branches quite easily. Needless to say I am quite impressed at its quite a sturdy unit. It can handle up to 3" pieces but works best with just under the 3" mark.The shredder is efficient as long as you don't try to stuff it. I was surprised how easily it cranked right up. Go watch some Youtube videos people have made and you will see that for the money - you can't beat it. Also, I was concerned about support, so I called and spoke to an agent and was assured I would have no problems ordering blades or other items. I did not have to wait forever to speak to someone either.

I bought this chipper after my old one blew its motor. I like the added muscle power of this one. Perfect for cleaning up the limbs not big enough to use for firewood. Works well for chipping green wood for mushroom cultivating too (wine caps).

Simple to put together. Heavy little beast and easily handled everything I put in it. Great way to keep the yard and tree debris in check. Makes a pretty nice mulch too.
