The California Air Tools Ultra Quiet Oil-Free 2.0 HP 10 gal. Steel Tank Air Compressor is designed to be one of the quietest 2.0 HP air compressors in the industry with only 70 decibels of sound. The powerful 2.0 HP (SP-9421) motor operates at only 1680 RPM, creating less noise and less wear. The new SP Series of Ultra Quiet Air Compressor Motors have been designed to increase duty cycle and allow for longer continuous run times. The Oil-Free Dual Piston Pump System is engineered for high performance and durability. The California Air Tools air compressor has an Oil-Free Dual Piston pump designed to have a life cycle before wear of 3000 plus hours compared to other comparable air compressors with life cycles of 500 hours or less.1 Year Limited Warranty

- A: The 2.0 Hp compressor pulls approx. 3800 to 4200 watts during startup (i.e. ~12 Amps); then tapers down to ~1400 watts while running (filling the tank). You will need a 5000 watt generator (i.e. Honda 5000 or similar) to power the compressor. Otherwise for home/business use a dedicated 15 Amp breaker is suggested.Anonymousa year agoHelpful?

Compressor performance

The compressor is definitely super- quiet. It does not pump up in 2minutes as advertised, but that’s probably based on performance at sea level -vs- at a much higher altitude (7,000 ft). Durability will be the true test - time will tell.

Very nice product. As quiet as I had hoped. Meets my needs.
One issue already popped up: the on/off switch sucks, already fell apart & required me to disassemble the switch & cover to put everything back together. Poor design with sloppy clearances. Not at all up to the quality of the rest of the unit.
