Adequan Canine, 100 mg/mL Single 5 mL Vial

Veterinarians may prescribe an Adequan Canine (Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan) Injection to help control joint pain and inflammation in dogs. It's commonly given to help alleviate the symptoms of arthritis, but may also be utilized after joint surgery. Adequan works to reduce pain and inflammation, which results in increased mobility and energy levels. Adequan also helps promote healthy cartilage and synovial joint fluid. Adequan Canine increases the thickness of joint(synovial)fluid, reduces inflammation, helps produce healthy joint fluid and increases the production of cartilage.

Special Precautions

Do not use in dogs showing hypersensitivity to PSGAG. PSGAG is a synthetic heparinoid; do not use in dogs with known or suspected bleeding disorders. Use with caution in dogs with renal or hepatic impairment.

Overdose Information

Immediately contact your closest emergency animal hospital or vet.

Side Effects

Side effects included transient pain at the injection site (1 incident), transient diarrhea (1 incident each in 2 dogs), and abnormal bleeding (1 incident). These effects were mild and self-limiting and did not require interruption of therapy.

Store at controlled room temperature up to 25°C (77°F)

Following several doses, the effects of this medication will be shown through increased playfulness and an increase in activity levels.
