There’s not too many options out there for this price, can’t beat the price, this is no different than all these other cans out there with these horrible spouts, in order to work properly, you either have to modify the spout or get a non-safety spout, also you can get a small vent kit for these cans. That helps them flow much better once that’s done. It’s a great can.

I really wanted to like this Midwest Can 5 gal. Gasoline Can, especially at this price point and the fact that it's locally available at multiple retailers like Tractor Supply. Those are basically the only good things about it. Unfortunately, the quality is terrible. The seal around the cap wears out and starts leaking quickly. The depress mechanism on the spout is finicky and difficult to operate properly. Worst of all, the seam on the handle cracks and leaks after very little use. This is a very poor quality product. Avoid this brand entirely and spend a little more for something that will actually last.

The good news is that it doesn't leak. The bad news is that it's a pain in the neck to fill. Because of the screen in the opening, gas from a pump splashes up and causes the pump to shut off. You have to hold the can at a particular angle and pump sloooooooowly.

Everyone knows these cans have a spout that is safe but difficult to use. I bought better spouts.

The input for the container has a white plasitic filter that messes with the gas pumps. It restricts and gas pumps turn-off prematurely. Other than the mandated gas spout, the container is built solid.

5 gallon gas can is perfect for my generator.

Purchase was so simple on line, stopped about 30 minutes later and it was already up front for pick up.

Good capacity at 5 gallons. Slightly awkward to maneuver when full. Spout must be securely installed. Good concept but the design is not flawless. Overall good value.

Easy to open and close and has a vent valve and is spill resistant.

Midwest gas cans are American made and it shines through in the quality of the item. I highly recommend them if purchasing a reliable, cheap gas carry solution.

Terrible design. Vapor lock spout-won’t let the gas through. Takes 3/5 mins to get a fill up. Don’t buy.

Finally, at a price I can afford. Perfect for my needs.

Good gas cas so far

I purchased 3 of these gas cans. When I got them home I discovered one can wasn't like the other two. A white plastic liner was missing from this can. Upon calling Midwest Can, I was told the liner was called a Flame Mitigation Device which is required on new gas cans. This device is inserted by a machine during the manufacture process. The customer service agent was surprised that this device was missing from the can. I took a picture of the spout opening to show the FMD was absent and one of the bottom where a manufacture date was stamped. After a couple of days I received an email that my claim was approved. I about a week a new can was delivered to my house. This is the kind of customer service I wish more companies would offer. Thanks to MIdwest.

Excellent quality gas can…much thicker than Harbor Freight

Can not get a good seal on this can no matter what I do. Had to buy a different type of gas can.

I like this gas can. I got it for fuel for my lawn mower and it works well.

Do not buy this gas can. I have purchased a one gallon and five gallon recently and the gaskets that seal the spout assembly and the can are failing. I have exchanged both cans. The five gallon can twice and the one gallon can once. I'm fixing to take them back and get a refund or exchange them for a brand that doesn't leak all over my hands and generator. So much for safest cans if you can't even make a basic seal.

Spout leaks and is super slow, had to purchase the high flow spouts for another 15.00

Waste of money! I bought 4 of these gas cans and all of the caps have split. CHEAP MADE!!

NOT happy!! The cap broke while I was pouring, loss of fuel and big mess!! DONT BUY!!

HORRIBLE nozzle design! You need 3 hands. 2 hands to hold and support a full 5 gal can of gas, while holding it completely upside down. Then 1 more hand to release the nozzle lock while the can is upside down. Or you can bother a neighbor to come over and help you fill your mower!
