The Zareba 4 in. Fin Tube Insulator is made of durable, non-conducting UV-stabilized polyethylene. Insulators allow you to fasten electrified wire to posts without losing energy through the post. Designed for use with steel wire, the fins of this insulator prevent slipping, holding snugly in place.

do these have to be threaded onto wire before the fence is assembled? Can they be slipped over existing installed wire?

The insulator must be slipped onto the wire before it is attached to the fence. They cannot be attached if the wire is existing.
