Is the product appropriate for treating bumblefoot once cleaned out of infection?

Asked by: Mays
Thanks for the question. We actually have a product in Tractor Supply that is located in the poultry & backyard chicken area that is called Vetericyn Poultry Care. This product is great to clean and address ailments like bumblefoot, pecking sores, and neck/head wounds. Any of our Vetericyn wound and skin care liquid products are appropriate. Let us know if you have any other questions! Thanks, The Vetericyn Team

I have a semi-feral cat that I can’t pick up and she has a red, irritated sore on her back that she keeps licking.  Would you recommend this for her?  Thanks.

Asked by: Mom2smokey
Hello Mom2smokey. Vetericyn Plus® Wound & Skin Care can be used on your cat to clean, flush, moisturize, and help prevent potential infection in wounds, cuts, and sores. We also recommend Vetericyn Plus® Antimicrobial Hydrogel to provide soothing relief to the affected area after cleaning with the liquid. Our hydrogel adheres to the site to cool and protect and help minimize licking and scratching while the area heals. Using our liquid and hydrogel together is a great way to jumpstart the healing process and provide relief.

Is this product good for a yeast infection on a dogs paws

Asked by: mkhunter1
Hello mkhunter1, Vetericyn is not intended for use on systemic conditions. Vetericyn is appropriate to use on skin irritations, bumps, scabs, crusts and scratches. Depending on the underlying cause the Vetericyn may or may not fix the problem but it will help alleviate some of the discomfort and help clean the skin.

Will this help clear up a mild/early case of rain rot/scald on the face of a horse?

Asked by: Abrili76
Hi Abrili76. Vetericyn Plus® contains hypochlorous technology which has been shown to have activity against bacteria, virus and fungus. Since rain rot can be caused by a mix of agents, hypochlorous is optimal for addressing this issue. With this being on the face and near the eyes, another benefit of Vetericyn is that it is safe for use in and around the eyes. I would recommend applying Vetericyn once or twice daily to the affected area. The Vetericyn Foamcare Medicated Equine Shampoo is also a great choice for fungal issues. Even though this time of year weather and facilities may make it difficult to try bathing a horse, FoamCare's spray-on formula makes it easy to spot clean certain areas. If you have any more questions, please contact us at or 866-318-3116. Thank you, Dr. Mindy Mayfield-Davis, DVM.

I have a chicken that suffered a hawk attack and had about a 2" wound on her back, she survived it's been 10 days, it's scabbing. I have been spraying Vetericyn several times a day. How long should I keep it up?

Asked by: Aharris106
Aharris106. I suggest continuing to apply Vetericyn until the wound is healed. It will help keep the tissue moist, clean, and lessen the chances of infection. If you have any more questions please contact us at Thanks! Dr Mindy Melinda J Mayfield DVM, WCHP-AH

My lab has happy tail and every time we think it’s healing, he opens it up again. Will the gel be effective in helping the tissue to heal faster?? We are going on month 3 of bandaging the tail and bloody walls.

Asked by: Christina1128
Hi Christina1128. While we can't stop that tail from wagging, Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Hydrogel can help jumpstart the healing process. The gel will adhere to the affected area to clean, moisturize, and protect the injury. You can also saturate your bandage/dressing with our hydrogel prior to wrapping. Please contact us at if you have any more questions. Thanks!
