How do I stop this furnance from glowing red from heat?

The unit is getting too much air so you will not to shut down the damper control and this will slow the draft.

Is it permissible to vent one into open air in the basement and the other vent into the ductwork for the first floor? What is the life exptancy of the 1551?

Asked by: Mr Derek
Yes, you can run one duct in the basement and the other upstairs, but keep the following in mind; you will have 50% efficiency. Meaning, ½ of your heat will blow in basement, and ½ will blow into the duct system. Basically the 1100 CFM blower system is now split in half. So you will not pressurize the duct system upstairs and only get 50% heat velocity/flow. Life expectancy depends on the home owner. The manufacturer has some units over 20 years old and going strong.

hi can a power vent be used on for a chimney

Asked by: carl56
YES you can use a power vent for start up on these models. If you home is airtight or the chimney does not draft very well some can be run on low to help the draft.

Can this furnace be placed out side in a building and ducked into your  existing duck work to your house

Asked by: Lonnie w
Yes it can, just keep in mind the blowers are only powerful enough to blow a total of 40 feet. You will also need to maintain at least 1-2 static pressure or your efficiency will drop. Also, please remember you need to pull a return air back out of the home to recirculate warm air. DO NOT pull air form the outside ( this is counter Productive ).
