How does this model compare to the Ashley 1300e? This one appears very similar and it's half the price. Also the vent is located on the side but several other models have a top vent location. Is one better than the other?

Asked by: Mtw121
The manufacturer has advised that this model is basically the same other than the side mount compared to the top mount.

Can this stay outside or does it need to be under a shelter

Asked by: Coldman50
This unit is designed to set in a basement or Garage in order to recirculate the heat from the home through a return air so it can blow heat into the home at about 73% efficient. Setting the unit outside will cut your efficiency down to 50% also keep in mind the blowers on this unit are a total of 1100 cfm and will push your air about 40 ft max. We recommend using indoors, however, you can use outdoors. We also recommend using a shelter to protect the furnace from the elements if you so choose to use outside.

if I build a little shed next to house and insulate the room next to my furnace is only 12 feet away from outer wall will this work, the only other choice I have is to put it in spare bed room witch is 12x12

Asked by: aeon
Yes, as long as you meet the clearance to combustibles you can do this. However, keep in mind that the return air must pull back from the home in order to circulate the warm air back so this will increase the efficiency. Also keep in mind the blowers will only push a max of 40 ft through a standard size heat duct. That is usually 13 x 18.

On the top panel of the furnace it shows a diagram for wiring that is required in Canada. This diagram is the way I would like to wire mine, but the diagram does not give part numbers for each component. Where can I get the part numbers?

Asked by: englanddh2
In order to install like this Canadian layout you must purchase a 13MDK kit.

Although this model doesn't have a thermostat included, can I install one? If so, which one would work best?

Asked by: MikeKnew
