Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool for the price Got this for my teen son as a good substitute for taking my Hultafors axe out when him and his buds wanted to camp. It's not priced to be, and in no way is a high end axe. It holds an edge well and he has spent many weekends using it without issues. As with any wood handled tool, be careful of bad grain patterns etc. hand selecting your tool and checking the handle yourself can save you problems with them breaking after minimal use. I have since gotten the full sized axe and love it as well. The varnished finish on the handle has to go, we stripped them and rubbed in Boiled Linseed oil. Too much work? It took maybe ten minutes. I wouldn't order a mass produced axe without looking at it in person first.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good axe I have used and purchased several small axes. This one, a gerber camp axe, and a Gransfor Bruks. This axe is awesome and lightweight. I've split a cord or more using it with no issues. It's a fraction of the cost and I found it well worth it. It's large enough to swing full steam. I own several of them now. Gransfor bruks axe not worth the money they go for, gerber great lightweight backpacking tool, Truper is just a little too long to be a "great" backpacker but its carry able. Cuts good, splits good, it's inexpensive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Handle is the weak link I bought this axe, sharpened the head and put a razor sharp edge on it. Steel seems ok and help up pretty well. The hadle felt like a 2x4 that was rough cut into a club. I spent a couple of hours shaping and sanding the handle into something usable, but on the first camping trip, it shattered. I didn't miss, but the head drove too deep into a round and the handle literally turned to toothpicks. I had high hopes for this little guy, but cannot recommend it as it will let you down.
