Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works right! I installed hooked direct to battery and ran a 500 watt halogen work light for testing for an hour then installed into my environment with no issues. I would like if the mounting holes were away from the body a bit more but I got it to work. The other reviewer saying it only puts out 90 volts was likely using a standard volt meter not a true RMS meter. These are square wave inverters thus a cheap meter will read around 90 volts.

In the manual it states to disconnect the unit from the battery when not in use to prevent discharge of battery. Is this really a problem? Why would it raw current when not in use? How long does it take to discharge a battery?

Asked by: Steven315
The unit exist electronic components with self-discharge. However, the current is very small (at micro amp level). so it will take a long time to draw a battery completely.

If I have two can they be stacked to get me 2000 watts?

Asked by: John8524
Yes, you can use two to get total 2000 watts by dual outlets, which means you still only can drive max 1000 watt appliance. Please check your email for a diagram of this application.

How do i connect the inverter to a solar panel?

Asked by: NoahB
Need a solar control for this. The procedure of connection is solar panel→solar control→inverter→car battery.

So with this can it be charged then unplugged in case power is out & used to charge phones or run a fan

Asked by: Jcbrown
A power inverter changes DC power from a battery into conventional AC power that you can use to operate all kinds of devices ... electric lights, kitchen appliances, microwaves, power tools, TVs, radios, computers, to name just a few. You just connect the inverter to a battery, and plug your AC devices into the inverter ... and you've got portable power ... whenever and wherever you need it. The inverter draws its power from a 12 Volt battery (preferably deep-cycle), or several batteries wired in parallel. The battery will need to be recharged as the power is drawn out of it by the inverter. The battery can be recharged by running the automobile motor, or a gas generator, solar panels, or wind. Or you can use a battery charger plugged into an AC outlet to recharge the battery.
