Item Information

Modern science proves that your small breed dog shares the DNA of ancient canines, like the fox. Years of domestication and excellent care have turned your dog from a shrewd and wary hunter to a trusting best friend. Although their DNA remains the same and their tastes demand something of the wild, their diet should provide them with all the proper ingredients and nutrition they need to thrive. Highly digestible venison protein and small kibble size make this formula easy on your small breed dog's tummy and teeth. Probiotics and prebiotic fiber help support healthy digestion, while a blend of venison, lamb, egg, duck and ocean fish proteins provide optimal amino acid nutrition. Rich in proteins and fat, this formula provides the energy that active small dogs need. Your dog craves a taste of the wild. Go ahead and give them one.

  • A taste of the wild with REAL VENISON as the #1 ingredient; optimal amino acid profile, protein rich for LEAN, STRONG MUSCLES

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality Food My 13 year old American Eskimo LOVES this food. The small bites makes it easier for her to chew. She does not leave any food in her dish now. Her coat looks beautiful and I have noticed this since she started eating this food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ingredients and low starch We have a dog with several health issues and going not only grain free but also low starch has been one of the main management tools for us. Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley is a high quality food that not only provides great quality ingredients to our dogs but they also love the taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frenchie approved We love this food! It's little bite size morsels for tiny little Frenchie mouths is outstanding. Me and my girl GiGi love this food so much we pack it in our fancy little suitcases and take it to Paris with us. We dine on our little balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It's so romantic... Then we hold paws and stroll along the river and see the sights. Taste of the Wild gives lasting energy for the international dogs of the world like myself. Venison and garbanzo beans provide just the right nutritional balance and the beans don't even make me "toot". I wish I could say the same for my girl but everything makes her "toot". She's like a turbo powered "tooting" machine, but I love her anyways. Sincerely, Oscar Doddle Henderson (Dynamic international dog of the world)

What weight class is considered to be a small dog breed? I have a 27 pound French Bulldog/ Pug mix and from what I’ve read online, he is at the heavier end of the small breed class. Would this food be sufficient for his weight?

Asked by: brooke1087
Hello – great question! While Appalachian Valley was developed specifically for small breed dogs, which are generally considered to be less than 22 pounds, it is fine for larger adult dogs to eat this recipe as it will provide a balanced diet for any sized dog. We recommend following the feeding guidelines which can be found on the side of the bag and/or on our website here https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/dog-formulas/appalachian-valley-small-breed-canine-formula-with-venison-garbanzo-beans/.
