Rated 3 out of 5 by from Your horses need to like each other The good news is the horses waste less hay with this feeder than the V rack. The bad news is my crabby gelding will not let my elderly mare near the feeder if he's eating from it. They both eat from the V rack feeder (different sides) but no way he's sharing his big bowl o' hay! I like the shape and size in terms of paddock space it occupies. They ate from it right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got this because the old one was too small. This one is just the right size for my horses and donkeys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horses immediately used hay feeder. Almost no hay gets wasted. And thumbs up to the employees of the Wilton, Maine TSC! Employees are kind, knowledgeable and make going to TSC fun. Also when picking up the feeder, the yard crew gave exceptional help loading it into my truck. Thank you to Tractor Supply in Wilton. How large is this - suitable for a small round bake? or for how many square bales? Thanks.

Asked by: Blue Mamma
If you pull the square bale into flakes, it will hold up to two (depending on bale size). It does not hold round bales as it is designed for square bales. Thanks,

Is the top open or do they just eat from the sides?

Asked by: horsemomz
It is an open top feeder. Smaller animals may be able to eat from the side.

i have 4' diamter round bales. looks to me like they would fit in there quite neatly. you say it's not intended for round bales but i'm wondering why my 4 ft diamter bales wouldn't work.

Asked by: Earthtoots
Without seeing the exact bale you are referring to, it is hard to say for sure. However you can fit 1-2 square bales broken up in the basket. Hopefully that helps for reference. Thanks,
