Sweeney's Mole and Gopher Poison Peanuts, 6 oz. is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Moles Eat Bugs, Not Plants Google "what do moles eat" and you find they eat bugs and earthworms. So not surprising that it doesn't kill moles. Sweeney needs to explain how this works with moles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woeks great. I have used this for many years and it always works. It may take 2 or 3 days to work. You have to make sure you put it in all the active tunnels because you usually have more then one mole. I use about 6 to 8 pellets per hole.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Money! Bought this and used as directed. Applied several times. Moles just burrowed it back up through the holes used to distribute. Total waste of time and money.

Is this toxic to cats and dogs? How long is it active? Just bought a home where this was used this past summer.

Asked by: Belgian
They are toxic to pets. Sweeney's Poison Peanuts will break down and decompose when exposed to water and soil. After this occurs, you can let your pet out as long as the pellets have disintegrated and washed away. The length of time the pellets remain active depends on the amount of precipitation your area has received. If it has not rained since you applied the pellets, the pellets are probably still intact and poisonous. If it has rained or the area has been watered, three to four weeks would be a safe time to wait before exposing your pet to the pellets.

Is Sweeney's mole and gopher poison peanuts safe to use in a pasture where horses graze?

Asked by: Susan Fortney
No, we do not recommend the product for use in an area where animals are active and feeding. Although the pellets are buried underground, they should not be placed in an area with the potential of being unearthed by the horses. The manufacturer does make the S9014 which is the Sweeney’s Solar Powered Sonic Spike to repel moles and gophers, and is poison free. This can be reviewed at and can be special ordered at any Tractor Supply store.
