Stokes Select Squirrel Proof Suet Cage, 38069 is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 99.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stokes select squirrel proof suet cage Only had this for a short time. Decided to get a lot of squirrel proof feeders as this year it seems like we have been overtaken by squirrels chasing the birds from their feeders to steal their birdseed and suet. So far it's working. It took a while for the birds to get used to going inside the cage part to access the suet but now that they have gotten the hang of it, it's feeding as normal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed This was bought a month ago to prevent squirrels from getting the suet. However, I am glad I went outside when I did, I found a bird caught in between the brackets. If I would not have noticed it, the poor thing would have died there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves how much suet I buy. I find my suet last so much longer using this holder. Even the large red-bellied woodpecker is able to reach suet. Thanks for offering such an item.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stokes Select Squirrel Proof Suet Cage I purchased this hoping to prevent the crows, grackles, and starlings from eating all the suet. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop them. Does work against squirrels, but that was not my intention.

Questions & Answers

Will this feeder keep Common Starlings from eating the suet?

Asked by: Green2
The openings in the outside cage portion of the feeder are about 1.5” across. I would imagine juvenile starlings could get to the suet – while larger ones likely could not fit. It does tend to deter some of these larger “bully” birds though as they’re not comfortable entering the cage.
