Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bluebirds and tree swallows love this nestbox! I have bought several of these boxes and they are all occupied every year, This box is great for bluebirds and tree swallows, This is the only box I have found that is suitable for both species of birds with the larger nesting space and good ventilation. This is a well made and designed box, I plan to get a few more for my trail.

What is the diameter of the hole? I want to put a guard over it to prevent the squirrels from chewing it & making it bigger.

The whole diameter is 1.5”. Also note there is a 2.75” built up square wood foundation around the whole itself.

Are there any tips for mounting location or do's and don't s. Thanks.

Asked by: Christopher55
Hi Christopher. First we would like to thank you for purchasing our #38078 Bluebird House. We would recommend that you mount the bird house on a feeder pole, like the #38016 Bird feeder pole in our Stokes line. You can have this facing any directions. You want to make sure that the birdhouse is at least 5 feet high on that pole so your birds are safe. It's also recommended to attach a Squirrel Baffle, like our #38023 Squirrel Baffle, to stop predators from climbing up the pole. After any hatchlings have left the nest, its best to clean out the old nest so the birds can continue to use the house again and again. I hope this was helpful. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at consumerservices@classicbrands.net.
