Item Information

Standlee Premium Beet Pulp Shreds are formed from dried sugar beet pulp. Beet Pulp is the pulp that remains after sugar has been removed from the sugar beet.

  • A high calorie, low protein, low sugar fiber source for horses

Ingredients:
Beet pulp (dried), Concentrated Separator By-Product (Concentrated Separator By-Product or CSB is a secondary molasses produced during the separation of sugar from normal sugar beet molasses).

Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.) 7.5%
Crude Fat (min.) 0.5%
Crude Fiber (max.) 21%

Feeding Instructions:
Standlee Premium Beet Pulp is a high fiber source for horses. Beet Pulp can be fed to mature horses at a rate of 0.05% to 0.2% of body weight/day depending on level of activity. For a 1000 lb. horse, this equates to 1/2-2 lb. of dry beet pulp per day. Gradually introduce beet pulp into the diet during a 7-10 day period. Beet Pulp is a dehydrated product and is recommended to be soaked (completely submerged) in water for a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes prior to feeding, or until properly softened. Never feed moldy or insect infested beet pulp to horses. Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water. If you have questions, please contact the nutritionists at Standlee Premium Western Forage, or consult with your veterinarian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product to add and keep weight on a horse! I had my event horse on beet pulp once a day a few years ago and his weight was never the same. After dealing with extreme heat this summer, he dropped a decent amount of weight. I started him back on the beet pulp shreds and his weight looks perfect again. This product soaks very easily and my picky eater eats it without a problem. By feeding the beet pulp soaked, you also get a decent amount of water in your horses system in addition to the water they drink during the day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plastic bag has weird smell Standlee has begun packaging this product in a sealed plastic bag.  When you open the bag the product has a very strong chemical odor.  My horses (who used to love this stuff) refuse to eat it.  I hoped the odor would disperse once I removed the beet pulp from the bag, but it is, it continues to linger.  I don't know if the problem is the new plastic bag, or there is something contaminating the beet pulp.

How much water should be added per each lb, of bp flakes to assure proper water and soaking. What should the consistency be before being fed to my horse in good dental health? With this cold Michigan winter, she dropped alot of weight.

Asked by: Har13
Thank you for your inquiry for soaking the Beet Pulp Shreds. We recommend that shreds be soaked, two parts room temperature or cold water to one part product for at least 15-30 minutes and feed these products at ground level. Thank you

Which is best shreds or pellets?

Asked by: TerrieS
Thank you for your inquiry. The only difference between the two products is the form in which they come in and the weight of the packages. The shreds are great for horses with no dental issues or choke hazards and come in a 25lb bag. The pellets are great for any equine, and this product comes in a 40lb bag. To say one would be more recommended than the other, would depend on the animal in which it is being fed to. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have further questions at 1-800-398-0819. Thank you

What is the potassium percentage of this feed?

Asked by: KatetheGreat999
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not test each batch as it is made, we test our fields, we are required by law to guarantee protein, fat, fiber and moisture, we are not required to guarantee non-structured carbs (WSC & Starch). The 5-year average of the potassium is 0.10%. Thank you

Can I feed this product to wild game

Asked by: CNap
Thank you for your question. Standlee Premium Western Forage Beet Pulp products are safe to feed to wild game at 0.15% of their body weight. Beet Pulp Products do need to be soaked for 15-30 minutes prior to feeding. We also recommend that the product be introduced slowly over the coarse of 7-10 days. Thank you
