ShelterLogic ShelterAuger 30 in. Earth Anchors, 4-pack is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Installation I had no issues putting these into the ground. To test the anchoring locations for rocks/roots and aid in installation, I first hammered a piece of 5/8" steel rebar which created a pilot hole. After removing the rebar, I used a crowbar for leverage to turn the anchors into some pretty hard soil. I could see how it might be a problem for some people, but I managed it and broke a decent sweat in the process! I didn't have any issues with the quality of the welds, either. I would recommend this product, but if the ground is hard you have to have some ingenuity and also be willing to work for it. Soak the ground with water well in advance of installation if you have to. I should have done that because it took me about an hour to install all four. I'm not deducting a star for the missing cable and cable clamp (only received 3 out of 4 of each) because the performance of the product was as expected. The packaging was heavily damaged and taped on one end, so it's likely it either fell out or was "borrowed" to complete another anchoring kit. I spent a few more bucks to get what I needed elsewhere rather than return the entire package for a single clamp and 12" of cable. I needed my shed inspected worse than I needed to wait a few more weeks to get what I needed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just dig footings Only works in soft soils not good for rocky or compact grounds

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to install Very difficult to get installed to full depth. Takes many turns with downward pressure and didn't bite into soil well. Especially hard to drive if installing next to a post We finally ended up making a driver tool for a heavy duty drill, but could only get halfway on most anchors before the drill stalled out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used to hold lake front stairs in place. I bought a camp on a pond and the stairs going down the the pond is very steep. I noticed the entire 18 step stair and platform system was slowly sliding down and near a catistropic collapse. I used 2 come-a-longs pulled everything uphill 4" and attached it to 4 30" earth anchors to hold everything in place. Time will tell but I have confidence things will stay put.

What is the pulling strength? As you already know, not to pull it from the ground. How many ft./lb. to break it?

Asked by: Jdills
Hello, This figure is not available because this will vary depending on soil type. The only way to get an accurate rating is to have the anchor tested in your terrain by a qualified engineer. To discuss in more detail give us a call at 1-800-932-9344. Thank you

Would these anchors work well for a 10 x 10 chain link dog run? We have high winds, thus the need for anchors. Thank you.

Asked by: CherylJessup

You do not state dia. of rod or width of the screw plate. Even what it is made from. ??????

Asked by: Meandyou01
Hello, These Earth Anchors are made of powder-coated steel. The diameter of the rod measures 7/16" and the screw plate measures 3". Thank you

Can you tell me what these are rated on strength?

Asked by: elduderin0
Hello, Since there are too many varying factors with the soil they are being used in we can not provide a rating. Thank you
