Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy! I always made my own bird cakes but decided to try this. Wasn't sure if anyone would bother with it much during the summer months but the fact that it's a no melt product is a plus. Woodpeckers, chickadees & nuthatches are regulars to the suet cage. Price is right, too! I might not bother to make it anymore as this is more cost effective. Yes, recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dallas Woodpeckers I bought a squirrel proof suet feeder and decided to see if there would be any takers. I feed a lot of the sunflower hearts, but birds here never seemed to take to eating the suet. I wanted to see if there were any woodpeckers around, I have a lot of trees. It took them awhile to see the feeder, but now I have a steady flow of several types of woodpeckers coming everyday. They dont seem to stick around very long, but they do get a big mouthfull before leaving. I had no idea there were birds like this in my area, but sure enough they are coming out of hiding. They really love this peanut butter suet cake. I have the mealworm in the other side now and they really like it too. I've noticed the chickadees and some finches, and pine siskins nibblin' away at the blocks as well. It does take time for them to figure out you've put the suet out for them to eat. I almost gave up, but now I have to go buy more to fill it back up again.
