Why would you have grommet holes on a 5x10 cover??

This would have been a perfect little cover in our backyard to provide a dry feeding area for the "wild kitties" but with grommets holes, there's barely a dry area left for them. The canopy is relatively small and does not need grommet hole for water to drain. The slope alone is sufficient, even in heavy rains.
