Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 blocks heats our home all night. We have a Jotul wood stove and these fuel blocks keep our home toasty. Two blocks last all night and still have coals in the morning. Love them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product These burn hotter, longer and cleaner than wood and they are cheaper. Love this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a low cost, low maintenance heating product Great no muss no fuss compliment and addition to the mix of heating products for our wood stove . When you wait too long to put on the next few pieces of wood, this will get it going without a lot of drama, and it burns for a long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from They work ok I use these in my garage in a royal forced air wood furnace. The reason I do is because they stack better than wood and I have limited space. This batch in 2018 seems to burn not as hot as previous years that I have bought they seem to light slower and have to be tended to more than the ones I had last winter. Both were same brand and size.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Purchased 14 packages on sale. Have Burt wood for 8 years. 3 years ago I did a combination of wood and Biobricks XL. Last year just Biobricks. Typical burn with wood was 8 to 10 hours. Biobricks was 6 to 8 hours. Fuel Blocks I’m seeing 3 to 4 hours. They are much messier then the Biobricks. (A lot of loose sawdust in packages) With the sale they were close in price to the Biobricks. But because of the burn time I will go back to the Biobricks that cost just a little more then cord wood, less mess and a fraction of the work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All night burning to eliminate creosote Been burning wood for over 30 years. Saw these at TS. We use them for the overnight burn. 1 brick lasts 8 hours with the vents closed. In morning enough coals remaining to just add wood and starts burning. No creosote worries. Some sawdust but not a problem if handled properly. Perfect for overnight burns and no early morning fire starting problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It smolders Only good to add to wood, too big and it smolders. It needs a roaring fire to get it to burn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wish They Still Carried the 6 Brick Pack. These bricks do not live up to their description. Short burn time, incredibly messy. I use wood bricks exclusively in my wood stove as they help with allergy issues in the family from burning wood. I used to get pallets of the 6 pack, however this year they were not available. The manager said everyone loved the 3 pack more and we would love them as well. WRONG! They are not good. Sadly, I went on their word and bought my normal 3 pallets so I'm stuck with them all winter. Will not purchase next year and will be looking for a new vendor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and clean up I was unsure about using the wood bricks, but after talking to other people and reading more about them, I decided to try them. I'm glad I did. They are much easier for me to use. Will keep using them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product The blocks burn excellent a lot cleaner than split hardwood, easy storage, area is cleaner.
Date published: 2018-10-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from good heat These give off good heat, but some of them crumble easily, so you don't get a full burn. When they crumble while burning it puts off too much heat and you have to close down the damper

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This is a Super Product when you can get them on sale, the on sale price has go up $.50 since last year. Once you get a fire going it totally great, Might take you a few times to do so. I use Pieces of Flat wood to help. These do not last over night, I think they are packed too loose, maybe if they were compressed harder they would last the night. They Burn Hot, and you need to use caution when adding. What is also nice you can stack then in your Garage, not like wood, were it get wet & snow upon. There no more bugs, or wood chips all over, just a fine dust. If your using a shop vacuum to clean the dust from you floor make sure you add a new bag, the dust will not get in the air. I wish that you could get these delivered, I purchased over 200, and had to pick up with my Trailblazer. 40 at a time The Horseheads Store was very helpful, and I Thank them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camp fire fuel We burned three bricks at a time on a recent camping trip and they worked great, throwing some good heat and easy to transport without worries of carrying bugs across state lines. We used a good fire starter and a couple kindling sticks to get the fire started and they burned for hours. Much easier than searching for local campfire wood and getting wet splits that never burn well! We toasted s'mores and sat by the fire for hours with less smoke than usual wood choking us out. The wife and kids were happy, although I kinda missed the smell and crackle of a real log burning.I am going to order a pallet for the fireplace and future camping trips. This will be my new go-to product for travel and use inside the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Burn I used to use hardwoods only in my woodstove until one day a few years ago I saw a YouTube video on bio wood bricks. I tried them and love them. I prefer the six pack bundle for ease of use and lighter in weight. They burn long with very little ash left. Are always dry because I can store them anywhere with no wood bark mess or bugs. I only burn wood bricks these days. I much prefer them over wood cords and these bricks are my only winter heat source.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fall apart in your hands. I bought these at the beginning of this winter season for our wood stove, which is the sole source of heat in our home. When you open a pack there is a ton of loose sawdust which never fails to make a mess. They crumble apart in your hands as you try to load them into your stove. They burn fast and dirty. After switching to another brand (grenheat from rural king), I realized that these logs are barely compressed which is why they crumble and don't last as long. The glass on my stove also stayed much cleaner after the switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product and easy to handle First off, if you are looking for something inexpensive to put in your fireplace these are definitely not what you are looking for hence some of the negative reviews from fireplace owners. Stick with the duraflame type logs. That being said, if you are using these in lieu of a wood stove I highly recommend them. Here's why: If you have to buy your fuel sorce I find these a much better alternative to cord wood. You will probably spend about the same(give or take depending on your area)and get the same heat output. The deciding factor for me is these are much less work than dealing with cord wood and they aren't nearly as messy. Also, you know you are getting a dry product that will burn the minute you put it into the stove, unlike wood that sometimes might not have been seasoned as long as it should have. There are other wood composite products out there that work well but I find these to be the best value by far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ignite easily and last the fuel block is easy to ignite, last and heat well. times I use a piece to get a wood log started. great product at a great price. will continue using when available.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from burn time NOT as advertised I purchased a pallet of these from the Auburn NY store, the staff was VERY helpful in loading them as I had recently broken my arm. On the positive side.. they generally burn well once lit. I discovered that even when you put them on a decent bed of coals you should put a couple pieces of kindling in with them as often, without that they would just smoulder for hours without any real flame, similar to putting more charcoal in a bbq grill.... Also.. if I put a full pack in and dampen stove down for the night.. I would still have a decent coal bed in the morning to restart a fire. And..they do burn down completely and leave little ash.. On the negative side..they do NOT burn for anything like the advertised time..And if you only burn one block at a time...Not nearly enough heat output. So I had to burn them 2 and 3 at a time. They burn with good flame for about 2 hours...then..Again like charcoal will have hot embers that put off some heat for hours after. Also.. they are very messy...As you open the package they crumble and leave sawdust everywhere...I ended up putting a large boot-tray under them to catch the crumbles. In closing... not a bad product overall, helped get me through a few weeks of subzero cold spell..but I burned through a 96 package pallet VERY quickly..about a month overall , and that was in addition to other heat sources. My house IS very old and not well insulated so that contributed to the amount of material burned of course. Not a bad product as a supplement to good seasoned hardwood..not so good on their own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Lights easy, burns consistently. Not as hot as the ash and oak i normally burn but less ash and soot. Useful for middle of the night, just toss a few onto the embers and walk away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome I tried these a couple of years ago . . . I was 'learning' to use a coal stove and was not doing well starting it. These were my solution. I use a few pieces of paper/cardboard a little kindling and one of these. they tend to break up a bit and I scatter those pieces around then I slowly add the coal these burn so long the coal catches so much better than starting with wood that does not burn long or hot enough to start the coal. what a great investment

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have ! If you own a wood stove or camper. Ever since I discovered RED STONE FUEL LOGS, 3 year's ago at my local Tractor Supply store; here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I depend on them, as an absolute necessity. Because of the heat that's put out so fast and hot. I have a wood stove; that I have to use during the months of October through March. The Red stone fuel logs are much better ( in my opinion ) than actual firewood; little to no ash, burn longer, full heat in minutes and safer. I am a single woman and can physically carry the fuel logs; as opposed to firewood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete Garbage Nowhere close to the same energy output as from real wood. They claim each block is an 8lb piece of wood, not even close! Hard to light, and doesn’t generate any decent heat! Gonna burn though this junk and go back to wood, don’t waste your money
Date published: 2017-12-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good burn time I use it as a supplemental fuel to cordowood, they work great for overnight fuel, they seem to burn a long time. I think they burn better with a bed of coals from firewood beneath them
Date published: 2017-12-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not 8 hours per brick but 3 hour burn per brick Description says 8 hours of burn time, yes but PER PACK. Now don't think it is a complaint, it is just misleading. Our experience: 1 brick burns hot for 2 hours, the third hour the brick is just dust keeping the stove warm. This is our primary heat source, knowing how long we have in burn time is critical, so I pass the math to the next cold prospective buyer. We buy in bulk, unfortunately they aren't on sale enough and we pay alot per pallet. The heat is steady, unlike forced hot air.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I ordered this online, and they had it ready for me when I arrived
Date published: 2017-12-04
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as described This product is very far from what they described it, I t burn well for 2 hours not more if it didn't catch moister at the store but if it it was exposed to moister at the store< forget it. I picked up one ton once at Chichester store at 307 Dover RD It was stored outside under the snow and it was a nightmare, very hard burning with no heat at all a good seasoned cored of hard wood worth 10 tons of this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good deal These crumble if left in moist environment. Burns well on nice bed of coals, not good for starting. Often on sale, too.
Date published: 2017-11-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very efficient In my insert they last as long as good dry oak. Less ash because they burn completely. Cost seems high but the btu I get from them makes it the same as purchased split wood. Wife likes the no clean up and inside storage.
Date published: 2017-09-04
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Results not the same TS used to carry a product called Eco Brick, which is a superior product for heating. Well compacted and little mess. Last year they switched to this product (Redstone). The product practically falls apart before you can get it the stove and does not generate the heat that the Eco Brick did. Also burns much faster. If your are using these to perhaps just take the chill off a room these probably will work well. But if you want them for heat, I wouldn't recommend them.

Can you use this product in a brick lined fireplace insert?

Asked by: ricky01w
Please refer to the user's manual for the insert. In general, the information below should help you find the answer. Redstone Fuel Blocks can be used in any appliance that uses ordinary firewood such as fireplaces, wood stoves/inserts, wood furnaces, fire pits, camp fires. They are made from 100% clean hardwood dust and shavings (with NO additives) and compressed into "block" form. To use, start with 1-2 blocks added to a bed of hot coals and adjust your fire as needed.

On average, how long would one fuel block burn?

Asked by: Strony
These blocks are best used in a wood stove. If the air flow is open and the stove is burning hot you may only get 45 minutes to 1 hour per block but we recommend the stove be controlled to a more manageable heat range which will extend the life of the blocks to 3-4 hours or more. Stove size, air flow, outside temp and actual appliance are all factors in burn time.

Do these help keep the black soot stuff out of the pipes?

Asked by: Patic
Soot collection is determined by a few factors but these blocks burn dryer than firewood because they have 6-8% less moisture and, therefore, less ash and particle emissions.
