Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad choice Thought we would try these out, had used a different type before, these were less expensive...We would rather pay more! These blocks are horrible! They’re very messy, smell bad, much more smoke with these, don’t last nearly as long. We tried them, bad choice!!! Wish we had read some reviews..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great deal! We bought these blocks and they have been great! So handy to have around on super cold nights

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great in a pinch I ran out of firewood this year and ended up making the decision to buy the fuel blocks from tsc. I am very impressed with the way they burn. They burn nice and hot and get the house warmed up quick on a cold morning. The only reason I put 4/5 instead of 5 is because of the ash. They state that they leave less ash than cordwood. This IS true if you let the fire burn completely out. If you are adding a brick or two every 2-3 hours, as you would need to to keep the heat output, the pile of crumbled sawdust ash does pile up. As far as the burn time I am also impressed. I keep my house at 70 degrees on a cold day with one brick every 2ish hours. At around 10pm I’ll throw two bricks in and I’ll have a significant bed of coals at 6am. Overall I am impressed with this product. I will and have recommended this to others and I will always keep a few packs each winter to mix in with wood on those extra cold days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Crumbles and breaks apart easily These bricks crumble and break apart easily and do not burn any longer than the small bricks. Not recommended.
Date published: 2019-03-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Longer burn time I bought these for their size, they are not as compact as Envir bricks but last longer. I use primarily the Envir bricks that Tractor Supply carries and only use these at night for extended burn
Date published: 2019-03-08
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality control Compaction is very inconsistent with some bricks crumbling when picked up. The 6 pack of ECOBRICKS are compressed more densely, less messy and burn better.
Date published: 2019-03-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and efficient These bricks have simplified our woodstove use Although some batches of seem to break apart more easily than others, we still love the “clean” factor that they afford us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use with real wood, but more expensive than Good for quick heat. I use in my wood stove with real wood, using sticks and paper to start both. Does produce quick heat. However they are more expensive than last year - even on sale - by .50 - 1.00 per pack of 3. The compression is inconsistent making burning time inconsistent. The looser (producing more sawdust on the floor) the faster they burn. Overall, good to use with real wood but cost more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fuel These blocks are great fuel for your stove. They burn very hot and they don’t leave a ton of ash. I was not sure if I would like them at first but they are great for throwing on a fire that is already going. They burn much hotter than regular wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome heat! Perfect fit, low residue, great heat! Easily stacked and love the price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very little ash We bought several of these a few weeks ago, and they were Great!!... slow burning, and plenty of heat given off!!... Left almost No ashes behind!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Very reasonable price for the volume. Works great to keep us warm in a pinch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Firebricks 5 star tsc 3 I have used these multiple times and I love them the product is great however tractor supply company screwed up this time and did not wrap the product to the pallet so while I was driving at home on my trailer going down Route 93 they just vibrated right off the pallet tipped over and went spilling all over the road about 40 miles an hour. Only lost a few packs because they crumbled when they hit. could have been bad but it wasn't. I recommend if you're buying a pallet of these or a half a pallet and you're driving them home make sure they are wrapped before you leave the store the correct way because I did not. placed my trust in the wrong spot. Product is great though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy Have purchased these blocks since installing our wood burning stove and find them an excellent buy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Burns well great service They save a lot of money compared to fuel oil and the guy that worked there insisted on help ing me load it

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok, for compressed dust. These blocks are ok. The wood dust is very fine. These smolder alot. The only benefit to these is to add a block into your regular hardwood within your stove. I can also tell by picking up a few orders that there are two different manufactures based on labeling differences. Still, no fine of dust within this compressed block. Smokders long alone. Good for tossing in 3 overnight. Otherwise, i do not believe these are worth It as the enviro blocks are much better. TSC, offer less of these blocks more enviro block as stories around me havent carried them in late 2018 and thus far early 2019.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not for me Bought for my brother to try in his stove. He said they didn't burn but only smouldered.
Date published: 2019-01-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like them more than cord wood! I stop in and buy a few packs on my way home if I am feeling lazy. They are quick to start, and average burn time for us is 5-10 hrs depending on how much heat I want/open the air. I put two pieces of kindling east/west, three blocks on top north/south, then regular split wood east/west on top of the blocks. I have found the added weight of the firewood on top of the blocks makes for a more complete burn.
Date published: 2019-01-05
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good to supplement real wood. You can't really beat the price. They throw a lot of heat. We actually break them apart and burn with real wood which works great for us. I would say it's more of a fast and furious burn vs. slow and steady.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Misleading BTU value? How can 24 pounds of wood fiber equal "42 pounds of cut firewood"? You cannot defy physics with marketing.
Date published: 2018-12-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long burn, efficient and easy I have burned split logs in my fireplace insert for almost a decade and tried these when my firewood provider left town. I am able to load four packages (12 blocks) still encased in the plastic wrap and build small fire before loading the fourth bundle. The fire burned hot and constant for the first 12 hours, coasted with an adequate heat output for a total of 18 hours on a single load! Temperature in Connecticut was in the teens at night, 20s during daylight and this kept the house comfortable. I would have loaded firewood at least four more times during the burn I got once with these blocks. Half the price of oil, a little more expensive than firewood and so much cleaner and easier to load. Just push the next package into place (without unwrapping) when you need more heat, and throwing firewood on top of the last stages of this fire made the firewood burn more efficiently. I had a handful of ash to clean after three days, instead of the usual two gallon bucket-full from wood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Redstone Vs Biobrick 1) Both Produced: USA 2) Made of: Biobrick- Shredded wood fiber, Redstone- Sawdust(they fall apart occasionally) 3) Weight- Biobrick pack weighs in around 40 pounds (20 small bricks in bag), Redstone pack weighs in around 8 pounds 3 large bricks in bag) 4)Heat Energy - Biobrick burns hotter and for time they are around the same the Biobrick lasts a little longer (Both fill stove before bed and you will still have coals in the AM) The year isn’t over yet but I enjoy using both equally so far. Biobricks are great to get it started (you need coals to use Redstone they will not start on their own) and Redstone to keep the fire going they work well together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 blocks heats our home all night. We have a Jotul wood stove and these fuel blocks keep our home toasty. Two blocks last all night and still have coals in the morning. Love them!
Date published: 2018-12-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product These burn hotter, longer and cleaner than wood and they are cheaper. Love this product.
Date published: 2018-12-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from a low cost, low maintenance heating product Great no muss no fuss compliment and addition to the mix of heating products for our wood stove . When you wait too long to put on the next few pieces of wood, this will get it going without a lot of drama, and it burns for a long time.
Date published: 2018-12-02
Rated 3 out of 5 by from They work ok I use these in my garage in a royal forced air wood furnace. The reason I do is because they stack better than wood and I have limited space. This batch in 2018 seems to burn not as hot as previous years that I have bought they seem to light slower and have to be tended to more than the ones I had last winter. Both were same brand and size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice Fantastic they heat the house incredibley and super effective

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Purchased 14 packages on sale. Have Burt wood for 8 years. 3 years ago I did a combination of wood and Biobricks XL. Last year just Biobricks. Typical burn with wood was 8 to 10 hours. Biobricks was 6 to 8 hours. Fuel Blocks I’m seeing 3 to 4 hours. They are much messier then the Biobricks. (A lot of loose sawdust in packages) With the sale they were close in price to the Biobricks. But because of the burn time I will go back to the Biobricks that cost just a little more then cord wood, less mess and a fraction of the work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All night burning to eliminate creosote Been burning wood for over 30 years. Saw these at TS. We use them for the overnight burn. 1 brick lasts 8 hours with the vents closed. In morning enough coals remaining to just add wood and starts burning. No creosote worries. Some sawdust but not a problem if handled properly. Perfect for overnight burns and no early morning fire starting problems.

Can you use this product in a brick lined fireplace insert?

Asked by: ricky01w
Please refer to the user's manual for the insert. In general, the information below should help you find the answer. Redstone Fuel Blocks can be used in any appliance that uses ordinary firewood such as fireplaces, wood stoves/inserts, wood furnaces, fire pits, camp fires. They are made from 100% clean hardwood dust and shavings (with NO additives) and compressed into "block" form. To use, start with 1-2 blocks added to a bed of hot coals and adjust your fire as needed.

On average, how long would one fuel block burn?

Asked by: Strony
These blocks are best used in a wood stove. If the air flow is open and the stove is burning hot you may only get 45 minutes to 1 hour per block but we recommend the stove be controlled to a more manageable heat range which will extend the life of the blocks to 3-4 hours or more. Stove size, air flow, outside temp and actual appliance are all factors in burn time.

Do these help keep the black soot stuff out of the pipes?

Asked by: Patic
Soot collection is determined by a few factors but these blocks burn dryer than firewood because they have 6-8% less moisture and, therefore, less ash and particle emissions.
