Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product! We started using the goat grower when our local elevator quit mixing feed. This is the most balanced ration our herd has ever been on. The goats loved the pellets from day one and do awesome on it!

Safe for sheep

Asked by: Tina11
Thanks for choosing Purina. The Purina Noble Goat product (now called Purina Goat Grower) is labeled for goats only. The copper will be too high for sheep to consume. Be certain when purchasing products for sheep, you find them listed on the feeding directions.

We have a wethered Pygmy goat (7 months old)  who has already had to be rushed to the vet twice for urinary calculi.   The vet told us to take him off of all grains.  Along with grass hay  and what he can forage in the yard, will this feed help prevent UC

Asked by: Nitestar
The Purina Meat Goat Grower will have the added ammonium chloride which does help reduce the formation of urinary calculi. For smaller dwarf goat breeds, they should receive at least 2% of their body weight as the Goat Grower to receive the minimum amount of the ingredient needed to be effective. They also need free choice access to hay/pasture and offered the Goat mineral free choice. Always have available clean, fresh water to encourage adequate drinking.

My Buck needs 1tsp of ammonium chloride a day, so I have mix 1tsp in his Purina Goat chow, at a cup and one half of feed. Would he get the same amount in Noble Goat Feed. If I mix the Ammonium Chloride in his water, he will not drink it. Thanks.

Asked by: Goaty
We have the ammonium chloride added to the Noble Goat Grower product. The inclusion rate will be between 0.55 to 0.65%. It depends on how much you are feeding per day as to the amount they are consuming. If the goat is eating 2.5 lbs. of Noble Goat, he will be consuming between 5-6 grams ammonium chloride per day.

Is this a good feed for milk goat weathers that are 2 years old

Asked by: Brownie and chuck
Thanks for choosing Purina. We are phasing out Noble Goat Grower 16 and it will now be called Purina Meat Goat Grower (same great formula with a different bag image and name). But, both are suitable for the young male goats. You cannot feed it to the lactating doe if you are using milk for human consumption since it is medicated.

If I stop using the medicated goat feed on a nursing doe and return to another feed that would lead to milk being safe for consumption, how long would it be, before the milk is safe for consumption?

Asked by: Zubhanwc3
Thanks for choosing Purina. The Decoquinate can be transferred to milk, but it does not get stored in the meat. As soon as you discontinue feeding it, it is no longer being transferred to the milk. While technically there is not a withdrawal time noted, you may choose to wait 24 - 48 hours.

I have two Pygmy goats their about almost a year old. I was wondering if giving them about 2 quarts of feed a day is too much? And when should I move them off the grower feed onto adult feed? They also have grass hay too

Is this ok to feed to all goats at all ages? Pregnant? Nursing? Wethers? Billies?

Asked by: MelisaH
Thanks for choosing Purina. Yes, this is good to feed to all goats and all ages. The medicated DQ option will have a warning on the label that goats fed this product cannot have their milk used for human consumption.

Is this safe for dogs? My dog will probably find a way to get the goat feed sometime...

Asked by: Goatzz
While decoquinate is a very safe medication, we would caution against a dog consuming this product since it is labeled with the concentration for goats.
