Producer's Pride Hill Country Chicken Coop, 6 Chicken Capacity, Grey/Black

For an out of the box coop I think it's pretty nice. Metal sides. Decent sized run that uses hardware cloth. Decent sized interior with space to put a bit of water and feed in the winter. Easy to put together, but I wish it was designed so someone could decide which side the egg box goes on. Feels like that would be an easy enough change to make. The egg boxes are decent sized, but can't be blocked off to keep chickens out. Plenty of ventilation. There's a big window to the back which has a hardware cloth cover and a smaller sliding door above the chicken door which also has a hardware cloth cover. To me the weakest part is the coop door. I have two, and sometimes it drags and makes me worry how long it'll last. Also it's a weird decision that the door is just painted wood when so much of the exterior is covered in metal or plastic. Materials that are a little more water resistant. Another issue is that the instructions don't tell you when you need to drill. Which isn't a problem for the most part because most of the hardware is already together, and a lot of points show where you're intended to drill. The exception for this is the roof and the chicken door handle holder. For the price it's probably one of the better coops on market, and would be easy to modify to fix the issues it does have. I've got one for chickens, and I'm using another one for ducks.

Nice solid product and easy installation.

The coop is attractive, roomy and came pre-assembled which was appreciated but quickly noticed the preassembly flaws and some durability failures. It's been thru just a few months of varied weather which revealed it wasn't completely weather proof so I had to find a way to make it draft free/keep dry inside as snow/rain got in it. The sliding door to the coop had a metal handle attached to open and close it from the outside. The hardware they attached split the wood door frame so the mechanism has already fallen off (not repairable) and I now have to manually open and close the door with long hook from the outside of the cage. The side wall/roof of the coop is made of a plastic(pvc?) material and the single sun facing side wall has already warped outward. I assumed it was primarily composed of wood and metal but it has a lot of plastic (sides/roof). I still like it but a bit disappointed sooner than expected for a few reasons.

Impressed! It was bigger than we thought it would be. Sturdy and easy to put together. I have my 2-month-olds in it, and it works perfect. Was missing the weather stripping for the nesting box but was easy fix. Easy clean and the chicks dig it!
