Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Chainsaw operates well. Used it about for times so far, over 1hr each time. If you follow directions it starts easily and runs well. Cuts strong and functions as should. Chian need tighten after 3rd use, but thats to be expected. Over all grest value

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I was hesitant to by a "cheaper" chainsaw because there is so much hype about the other brands. BUT this is a great tool. It goes head to head with my father's husquavan. So far it cut everything I wanted to cut with very little fight. O strongly recommend this product for the price

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poulan making a cheap saw I'm not impressed with this saw. I've owned Poulan saws in the past several years ago that cost less and we're made with better materials and engineering. This saw is full of plastic and the chain falls off repeatedly. It seems that they've designed it to maximize their profits by reducing the quality of the saw using low cost materials. I don't recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chainsaw We love our Poulan chainsaw. Its easy to crank and not too heavy either.
Date published: 2019-11-10
Rated 2 out of 5 by from It’s not the best I bought this about 4 years ago and it has been nothing but trouble. At first when it was brand new it ran great, but as time when on it started to have problems. Now the saw has maby 50 hrs on it and it won’t idle, it over heats quick, and it has no power.
Date published: 2019-11-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good for the price Very easy to start compared to older models. Have taken large trees down with it.
Date published: 2019-10-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and durable Works like a charm. Not too heavy and cut upto 14” sycamore tree. Used it 4 hours solid, stopping to refuel and oil chain. Finicky to restart if you immediately kill it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anyone short of professional I bought this same model 6 or more years ago and used it heavily - cut down and up 50 or more trees of varying diameter - up to maybe 24 inches. Replaced the bar once. Performed great and finally gave out with some kind of electrical problem this year that wasn't worth troubleshooting. Replace the spark plug right away with an E3.12 - that will improve starting and performance. Unless you are just doing limbing and trimming replace the chain with either half or full chisel - a lot more aggressive cutting when processing whole trees. You WILL need to adjust the carb as the instructions specify or it won't idle - simply done with its included tool and without any disassembly. Sure you can spend a LOT more for a Ranch or Pro grade saw, but there is no guarantee they won't need some service after a few years. Yeah, some parts are plastic instead of metal but non-critical and who cares? You can buy 3 of these for what a serious high grade saw costs and your bar is going to wear out at the same rate no matter what you pay. Take care of it - don't use ethanol in it - pre-engineered fuel will not gel and clog the carb after sitting on the shelf for months. Top off the chain oil every time you refill fuel. Saw should throw chips, not powder - if you are getting the latter its time to sharpen or just replace the chain. Don't hit the ground with it - stop short of cutting through and roll your log - or control your cut carefully. Dirt will dull your blade instantly. Watch some YouTube videos about proper ways to cut down trees if you are a beginner, many unpredictable things can happen. There are plenty of 'chainsaw fail' compilations out there too which will give you some respect for proper methodology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great chainsaw for the money I bought the song because I needed some trees cut down used it the other day and it cut through the trees like a hot knife through butter I'm quite happy with it the price of it was reasonable and I plan on using it for a really long time cuz I still have a bunch more trees to cut down

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality This is second saw and leaks oil after third use. First saw trigger broke after used several times
Date published: 2019-09-25
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Should have gone with my gut feelings on this, bought the poulan 2 days later took it back and got the husquavarna. Spent more time pulling the cord than I did using it. Seamed as if it wasn’t getting fuel. Bought the poulan because I have a poulan mower which is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good saw for the money. This is a nice little saw for a homeowner or someone who only occasionally uses a chain saw. It's easy to start and it's light. I gave it 5 stars based on its performance for the price. There are definitely other saws that will outperform it or hold up better under heavy duty usage, but I couldn't find one in this price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Ecellent!!! So far, so good. Your web-site disclaimor is correct indeed, an excellent price & even better performance. The only parts to replace have been a chain, sprocket & fuel line. Yet under normal wear and tear, those are expected. The only complaint: the plastic cover & wrenching mechanism for access to the bar & chain. It is a bit awkward & clumsy when oiled up & "in the heat of battle." I would prefer just the nut & wratchette driver instead (i.e. for access to the bar & chain).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money! We have been cutting wood every weekend for two months with this saw, other than a carb adjustment for high altitude, not a single issue!
Date published: 2019-09-13
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs better air intake for carburetor Good saw except they don't leave fresh air intake openings, so it can get air that is not superheated. These are actually made by Husqvarna On a 4018 Wild Thing I drilled numerous holes in the blower housing and in the air cleaner cover, and in the top, and then it stopped overheating. on this model can't tell you shh

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cuts like butter! This chain saw is certainly doing the job!! I had several large trees taken down and this saw goes through them like it's cutting butter - effortless. Would definitely recommend this saw.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe fine tuning will help The Poulan PR4218 is a good looking saw, especially for the price. After getting home to use the saw it fired up nicely and performed great on the first several small trees and limbs I cut. The second time I used it, it started good but did not want to idle, and didn’t rev up as it should. It finally warmed up so I could use it but it did not perform as well. I plan to adjust the carburetor to see if it helps, but didn’t have the necessary tool. Hopefully it will help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great saw I bought this as a second saw (refurbished). It works as good as the one I bought new for half the. price. It had a few scrapes and scratches but then again, I would have added them myself if it were new

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Its no good! I did not like the poulan pro.. Within the first 15 min. The chain came off and wouldnt stay on..

I have had one of these for about a year now, most of my other 2 cycle equipment I have been using off the shelf mixes with better luck then mixing my own. would my poulan work well with these mixes?

Asked by: waynem
Hi Waynem. Absolutely! If you prefer not having to mix fuel and oil, the premixed options are awesome. Just make sure you purchase the right mix. 50:1 mix is recommended for most of our current chainsaws, but you'll want to check the user manual for your particular model because some of our pre-2017 models recommended a 40:1 mix for optimum performance. Thank you so much for considering Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs.

I have a Poulan Pro 260 42cc I would like to replace the bar but I am have a heck of a time finding the replacement bar because the chain tension adjust screw is on the bar and not on the body of the saw Why is it so hard to find a replacement bar

Asked by: Niterider
Hi Niterider. So sorry for the delayed response. The part # for the replacement bar for this model is 952044689. That bar fits 18" chainsaws, regardless of whether the chain tensioning is on the side or front. Thank you so much for choosing Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs.

What is the difference between this saw and the ppr4218a predator besides the color?

Asked by: guest76
Engine and Bar size are same. The major difference between the two saws is that the Predator comes with a kit (carrying case, extra chain, chain file, 2 cycle oil mix, bar chain oil and one pair of gloves).

My local store had just switched from the PP4218A to this model. I've tried looking for a difference between the two. Is there anything that warrants spending the extra $30 to get the newer model?

Asked by: starboy
Hi starboy. The two models are pretty much the same, except that chain tensioning is on the side with this one, and on the front with the PP4218A. It could be that one of them included a case or extra chain, but I'm not sure since the other model is no longer listed. Thank you so much for considering Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs.
