Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Chickens Love it and So do We - A Great Coop The OverEZ Medium Chicken Coop is a great product for anyone with a small backyard flock. We have five chickens who fit very comfortably in the coop and we could easily fit three more. I'd say eight chickens would be the maximum for roomy comfort. The building is very pretty once built, much nicer than the earlier coops we had (which were considerably smaller) and the chickens themselves seem to like it better as evidenced by their spending more time in, around, under, and on top of the coop - whereas with the earlier coops they couldn't wait to get out in the morning and only perched on or around them toward dusk. The chickens also weren't laying with the earlier coops whereas now we have eggs regularly because, I think, the chickens are more comfortable. Regarding construction: you will definitely need two people to put this together. My 25-year old daughter and I did it with minimal difficulty. The pieces are not light but not overly heavy (except for the roof and the section with the nesting box) but you need two people to lift each section into place and one to hold while the other screws it in. You definitely need two people for the roof. The instructions are rudimentary along the lines of "put Section A on floor where `A' is marked, screw in" and couldn't be easier - BUT do not get hung up on trying to make each section fit perfectly into the grooves of the next. This is where we had the problem. The instructions tell you to fit each section into a slot (groove) of the next but the groove is quite narrow so the one piece will fit into the next but not snugly or completely. This made us think we were doing something wrong and we took a section down to start again. It turns out the pieces don't need to fit perfectly into the slots in order for the coop to work - they just have to be in the slots, but not firmly or snugly - and, once we understood this, it all came together nicely. It's a beautiful coop, as I said, with a large door for easy access if you're relatively thin, spacious nesting box, and a pretty little window with a screen. The chickens love it and so do we. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best prefab coop This is by far the best prefabed coop you can buy. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty darn close. It arrived a little beat up but nothing too serious. All the pieces fit together tightly. It was missing one of the roost boards, and when I contacted the company they told me that the way they package the pieces on the pallet it would be impossible for them to leave it out. I’m here to tell you they left it out. Not a big deal, I can go to the lumber yard and pick one up. The printed directions are a tad unclear, but I watched the assembly video and didn’t need to reference them. I don’t think it will hold the amount of birds they say it will, but should fit the 6 I plan on getting. I do wish I would have gotten the largest one. I put it together by myself in about 20 minutes. The hardest part was the roof cause it was heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built Coop. This is an extremely well built coop compared to some others on the market. It was very easy to assemble and everything went together perfectly. My Leghorns love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy. Durable. Great Size. Liked the 3 choice option on size. Bought the Medium for my 10 chickens. Did have some dings on it from shipping but I already planned to paint it a different color so it was no problem. The pre drilled holes were in proper places except 2 were drilled on knots on the wood so I made adjustments for those. My wife likes the fact she can easily get inside the coop to clean but doesn't like the fact you have to go inside it to open the small window. I agree, the window should be reversed for ease of access by the owner. I would also suggest to the maker to do a video on the Medium and Small as the roof is different in assembling, it is one piece and there is a trick to it. Also label your pieces top/bottom. We connected a 10x10 chain kennel to the side of the coop for a run. This workes out very well and saves alot of space, yet our chickens have a lot of room. We placed a clear panel roof on top of the run so the light would still get through. Overall we are very pleased with our purchase and would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Chicken Momma Delivered early. Followed the video, assembled quickly. Went together fairly easily. Looks great! Very solid construction. I’m not a small person and can climb in without concern. My chicks are still too small to move-in, but I feel like they will be safe and comfy in this coop!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay I just bought this coop there is little damage when delivered. Packing was not so great. The coop is sturdy but it didn't fit as shown there were some gaps left on ends. Overall it is okay but the way I got it seems the price is lil high. I still didn't screwed the top coz the back of top is not leveled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic craftsmanship We ordered this after reviewing many, many others. Many of which are made of that “fake cedar” wood that is so soft and rots quickly. This coop came nicely package and went together like a dream. It’s sturdy and very well made. We really couldn’t be happier. We recommend this coop 1000 times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality, easy to assemble Pros: very well made, lives up to promised quality; quickly assembled (really was 30-45 minutes) - pre-drilled with screws in place made assembly very easy; optional retractable wheel set is well designed, makes it very easy to move the coop (easy to position to align with Rugged Ranch chicken run from same manufacturer); provided cans of touch up paint to compensate for any shipping damage) Cons: shipping pallet poorly assembled (some sets of staples completely missed connecting frame components), arrived broken (minor damage to the coop) and leaning heavily to one side; some coop pieces not quite the right size, which left unavoidable gap at lower section between man-door end and side with window (easily caulkable); interface with Rugged Ranch run could be improved (getting tight fit with flanges required using flanges in different ways than intended); instructions called for connecting roof to vertical supports on sides using pre-drilled holes but there were no pre-drilled exterior holes - leaving roof a little teetery (roof blocked from sitting all the way down onto sides due to center support member on roof)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, not put together "like the Amish" The coop is really nice overall. Although the parts are really heavy this 5' 7' woman got it put together by myself in about 1.5 hrs. (Get the roof set on something about 2 feet off the ground then set it on the top and push it in place.) It would be an easier job with 2 people. Anyway, the problem is whoever put the walls together wasn't very detail oriented. There was a nail sticking out of the wall in 2 different places but worse was that for the nest box wall you are supposed to fit it between the white side-moulding and the already set up red wall. It did not fit! I had to pry open the white moulding from the top to bottom then hammer it back in place. Had to do that for the final wall, too. It may look like the nest box wall was made wrong and there are wide openings at the bottom. That just means you have to push the wall further in. I'm still working on what to do to get the coop door to close all the way. Something is preventing it from closing but haven't worked hard on figuring it out yet because I can turn the handle shut just not all the way. I really like that the chickens (5 including a Jersey Giant) have more venting than the old coop so it stays cooler and less stinky. I had to build a bench so that they could get to the 1st roost which is about 17" off the ground. Overall though I really like the coop and it's easy to clean. I can fit in the door easily to clean things up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Built My husband has very high standards for building. But he didn’t have time to build me a coop so I bought this one (medium). He assembled it in under 30 minutes and said he was pleasantly surprised how well build it was! It’s perfect as a supplemental portable (with our tractor) coop! Well worth the price I paid! (I did get it during the spring sale)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried many coops, this is THE WINNER This coops does it all! We love it... we are a farm animal sanctuary & we have rescued chickens & we have tried many different styles of coops for our 5 different enclosures... this one does it all. We leave both doors open during the day so the chickens can come & go as they please & seek shelter if it rains. It’s raised up on the ground so it’s predator proofed when we put them up & lock the doors for the night. It has a window so they can have some airflow during the hot summer nights. It has good quality weatherproof paint to withstand they crazy Georgia climate too!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST coop We ordered this coop after returning another model. This coop has met and exceeded expectations. We have 9 leghorn pullers in it now. It will soon be home to 9 chicks in brood and the leghorns will go to another coop. We bought the run and other items such as the wire Hausa for the base and the cover for the run. This is an excellent coop made of solid wood and is easy to put together. This is the best coop we have found as a pre fab on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coop So far this has been a great chicken coop it was very easy to put together it's a lot stronger and higher-quality then most of the other ones it is one of the few chicken coops the accurately advertises how many chickens it can hold most chicken coops overestimate how many chickens they can hold by double and they are flimsy and fall apart in no time this uses construction grade materials all in all a great product the only negative thing I can think of is they forgot to put the roosts in the package but that took me 2 minutes with my saw and one two by four.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed! The medium coop itself is great for me! Solid, went together without hardly a fuss! Great craftsmanship! If I get more chickens, I’ll be buying the larger one for sure! Purchased this online. Delivery was ealier than said, so I couldn’t have been happier about that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy and easy to assemble coop After purchasing different coops that were weak and flimsy I set out to find a coop that would last years; I am confident that my search has ended. My kids and I put this together in about 40 minutes, and it would have been less time if they weren't taking turns with the electric screwdriver. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The wood is solid and the coop is definitely made to last. I have already reccomend this coop to family, friends, and colleagues. We are even considering purchasing another coop and expanding our flock because these coops provide a safe, clean space for our birds. Definitely purchase this coop

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed WOW! Went together in about 45 minutes. Very well constructed. Sturdy. The ladies are going to be happy in their new home for years. One mark against the coop, the mesh window screen needs to be replaced with hardware cloth to make this 100% predator proof

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practical and attractive! Built this coop the night before the bomb cyclone blizzard hit us! Unlike many other things of ours, this coop was like a brick house and didn't budge at all. Our chickens love it and it is a practical addition to our hobby farm. My kids can even reach the nesting box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Time saver. Put together real easy. Saved a lot of time ordering it and not buying material and building my own. I did caulk the edges and put gopher wire over the screen on the widow and at the bottom of the man door for extra protection. Little weasels can get through the smallest of holes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Was researching how to build my own coop when I ran into a Youtube video about the over easy coop. Located a demo at a loCal competitor but they wanted 3 times the amount. Found them on the TSC website. I must say my girls love it in their old coop they wouldn't roost now they roost. They laying more eggs and I'm enjoying it.
Date published: 2019-01-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Move roosts! The coop is very sturdy and easy to put together. It should keep chickens safe from predators at night. If you purchase it do not install roosts as directed. Move roosts down about 1 foot and attach them to the boards available at that level. One of our 5 week old chickens was getting down from the lower roost and hit the wall on the other side which caused her to brake her neck and die. It is much safer with the roosts lower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Coop This coop is very heavy, which is a good thing! I put it together alone and it took many hours (I don't recommend doing it alone!) but it's well built and went together fairly easy. The metal piece that the ramp attaches to was broken during shipping I guess, but other than that all was well.
