Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product This product worked well for my girls. The key is to feed them as soon as you see a change in their feathers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really enjoy featherfixer! Great product that my little serama’s enjoy. Small sized pellets make it easier for them to swallow. I feed it year round.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ladies Love It! We use this yearly during molt and throughout the winter. One of our Australorps goes through a hard, painful molt every year. Feather Fixer seems to help her get through it a little easier and the ladies love the taste. We adopted three Plymouth Rock hens who had been raised in muddy, damp conditions. During their quarantine period we fed them Feather Fixer. They quickly regrew missing vent feathers and their combs and waddles reddened up nicely from their former anemic pink. One taste of Feather Fixer and I think they knew they were going to be living the good life from now on. In the spring and summer when the ladies are able to forage for bugs and frogs, we switch to NatureWise layer feed. They refuse to eat the bargain feed now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the size of pellet I've been buying this for some time now. My birds love it and the size of the pellet is good for my ducks as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great year round poultry feed This is an excellent, nutritionally balanced hen feed that I use as a year-round main food source for my laying hens, and tom turkey! It is wonderful for its main purpose, which is correct nutritional support during moult, and my girls have always done well with this. They seem to feel good, and their new feathers grow back beautifully! But, its formula is great for 365, and has a higher protein, which is also good for my turkey boy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A noticeable improvement My 24 ornamental chickens lost their looks to trauma when a construction crew invaded the acreage nextdoor. It was not a casual invasion. My hens had just begun to recover when they began their seasonal molt. I had been feeding them a pricey organic feed but they still were a mess. Then I tried Feather Fixer and the improvement was evident with the first 40 lb bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! My hens were picking eachother pretty bad, so i wanted a higher protein feed to a) hopefully keep them from wanting to pick and b) help their feathers grow back healthy. Seems to be working great so far! They are healing well and they like this feed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Product!  I just wanted to say we had one chicken that was getting "bullied" and had most of her neck feathers and some face and back feather pecked off by the other chickens in our small flock. We gave her Nutrena Feather Fixer, and can I just say with in a week her feather are coming back full force!!! It was my7 year old son's chicken and he was so happy to see her getting her feathers back and looking healthy again! So we just wanted to give a "shout out" as it has worked great to restore her feathers fast and happy we didn't have to lose a chicken especially in the severe cold temps in Michigan this last week! Thank you Nutrena for a great product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality feed for molting & year round. I use both Feather Fixer & NatureWise Layer Feed Crumbles in separate feeders simultaneously. Unfortunately I gave the Feather Fixer only a 3 star rating because the last few bags I've purchased were so filled with "granular dust" that it clogs my feeders. I've started sifting it out prior to filling them. Other than this issue, it's a quality nutritional feed & choose to use it year round, not just molting season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything my girls need to regrow their feathers. My girls love this feed, I give this feed to them starting in Late August, to November. I switch to Meat Bird, because of the higher Proteim percentage. All my girls love the Nutrena brand of feeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our birds look great! We have 4 Brahma hens. The breeder told us to feed Nutrena Feather Fixer because it was the only chicken feed that had enough protein for these larger birds. We've had the hens almost 2 years now and they are doing great! I was a little worried about it being too hot here in NM for them, but they laid eggs all winter, spring and even during the summer months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Best Condition I have been using Feather Fixer since it's inception. I raise exhibition bantams. My Modern Game bantams are always in top condition, and are frequently Best of Breed and sometimes Best in Show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps with molting When we have a few girls molting we feed Feather Fixer. It helps the girls get through the molt a bit faster. Happy Hen, Happy Egg Collector!
Date published: 2019-01-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional The girls love it. They don’t pick through to find the best pellet, they just eat it. They have put on weight and look fantastic. I’m getting five eggs a day from my flock of 11 and it’s still only mid January. No supplimental light. I was getting one a day before I switched feed three weeks ago. Love the color of the yolks too, love the marigold extract. Best color eggs yet. Delicious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feed for feather condition. We received a sample bag at the Ohio National Poultry show a year ago and started to use it when our birds went into molt. They love it and it really seems to help feather condition. We also feed this when the temp gets below 0.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great!!!! Hens do really well on this feed, we show birds and use it all year
Date published: 2019-01-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great year round While the name of this implies its intended use is only during molt, I use this year round for all of my birds and I know others who do so as well (mainly if keeping breeding stock rather than a pure egg-laying flock). Its 18% protein content is perfect for keeping my chickens (hens and roosters) in great breeding condition, and I get excellent egg yields as well. (I supplement with BOSS - black oil sunflower seeds - during their molts). They like Feather Fixer, and the pellet form means there is less waste compared the to the feed that comes in crumbles. I've tried multiple other feeds, and my birds have simply done best on this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No so great I have a large flock of laying hens and thought I would give Feather Fixer a try. The first ton of feed I bought was great, good smelling which attracted the hens. Thought I was getting my hens back laying sooner than usual during the molt. Used it year round because I felt it was making a difference in my flock. The next year not so great, didn't have the same aroma that it had in the past. Hens ate it but didn't speed up their recovery. Used 16% layer pellets and had the same results as I did the previous year using Feather Fixer. Nutrena became hard to work with buying feed by the ton. This year switched to IFA 20% layer pellets during the winter and the hens looking great and laying better. They are not consuming as much feed as they did with Nutrena products. Makes me believe that there are a lot of fillers in Nutrenas feed. IFA has been great to work with on supplying the feed and pricing much better. I am saving money using IFA 20% layer pellets because the hens don't need to eat as much to stay warm and lay great eggs. Egg shells are much better also, still give oyster shells but the don't consume those like they had bee eaither. Glad I made the change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, higher protein layer feed My go to chicken feed. Like the extra bit of protein compared to regular layer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice size crumbles Good feed. Chickens were molting and needed an extra boost and this did the trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Girls again! Really fixed my girl's problem and they loved the taste!
Date published: 2018-12-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feather Fixer fixed them! Feather fixer chicken feed really improved the feathers on my ladies! Now they can be much more comfortable this winter!
Date published: 2018-11-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best feed for my flock Nutrena has the best overall effect on my flock. They pull through a molt more healthfully. When they are unwell, they seem to have a better shot at pulling through when once able to go back to pellets, I use Nutrena and (and not to be taken lightly) thier manure doesn't even remotely smell compared to other feeds. This brand is my go to - hands down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for ducks I have 5 backyard ducks that were all molting and looking pretty scraggly. I fed this for two weeks and they Luik awesome. They loved it. (So did all the wild birds - dove, quail)
Date published: 2018-11-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's okay My chickens liked this food but I didn't see a noticeable difference in feathers being "fixed".

Can eggs be consumed while hens are on this food?

Asked by: Hannah07
Hello, Thanks for the question. Yes, you can absolutely consume eggs from hens on this product.

how does this differ from the Nutrena All Flock? I have peacocks, guineas, and chickens but need more calcium than in all flock.

Asked by: Soggypines
Hello, Thanks for the question. The NatureWise Feather Fixer is slightly lower in protein, at 18% vs the 20% in All Flock, is a little higher in fat (4% vs 2.5%), and does have the higher calcium levels you would be looking for. The Feather Fixer has 3.25-3.75% calcium, where All Flock is 1.4-1.9% calcium. Of course, you could also feed the All Flock and provide free-choice calcium in the form of oyster shell, and your birds will consume that as needed. Either option would work well for you!
