Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Miracle-Gro Garden Soil is a true Miracle! Our soil is a hard clay, yuck! Impossible to grow plants. But the Miracle-Gro garden soil has made our trees and flowers grow and now our yard looks like a magazine shot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is one of the better ones. This is a complete mix. The directions are complete and are simple to follow. It does not have a strong fertilizer smell, that I feel some other types have. Which leads me to think the other ones are not using the best of ingredients. My garden looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT AND VALUE I have a lawn service and I use this on all my clients plants and believe it or not the new shrubs I plant. This product give the plants a good stable supply of nutrients until they can become rooted good. I have seen flowers double in size with more blooms and stronger stalks. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a better outcome.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from this product is decent This product is not what i would call a good product because i have gotten this before and it has some bad bacteria in there. when i worked at Home Depot i would hear customers complain about this soil.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a bit of soill in the bag It looks like the tailing from a mulch pile along with the musty smells and mushroom spore. Ended up using in to fill in hole in the backyard. Even the dogs won't dig in it...nasty stuff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed in "this" years bags of Garden Soil! Never was till this year! I have been using your Garden Soil for years, loved it ... Till this year. 9 bags of your Garden Soil was filled with ... nastiness!!! They were not anything like the years before, good gardening soil. So nasty, filled with ??? that the Bears here think there is something to eat in it...go figure. Don't know what you all did differently but.... stop it Please. I guess all these years that I did believe in your product... I won't stop buying them. But this batch of Garden Soil... was not acceptable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from name is very misleading I bought this product based on the "soil" label for planting vegetables. It is nothing but ground up tree bark. No soil whatsoever. It looks nothing like the product in the promotional video. Ripped off!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not what I expect from Miracle Grow I purchased 30 bags of this from Lowes, when it was on sale. I got what I paid for. This product is more of a mulch than a soil. Very heavy on twigs and wood chips. I can live with that. The problem is that many of the bags have fungus and mold. In one area of my garden I have hundreds of thin little mushrooms growing. I wanted to make sure it was from this "soil". I set up some seedling trays and the mushrooms are growing as they did in my garden. I have used Miracle Grow products for years, this is not of the quality I expect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garden Soil????? Where's the soil? I raked up and burned better than this. Sticks, wood chips, and I even found some chopped up pieces of plastic in this stuff. Been using Miracle Gro products for 40 years but I won't pay heard earned money for trash!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garden soil I bougt this and and was putting it in my raised beds and when i was smoothing it out there was hard pieces of plastic in it and cut my hand. Was very disappointed in what this is now and what it use to be. Guess ill have to find something else for those raised beds

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Moisture soil I was a firm believer in this product for years. The last two years the product is basically wood chip mulch, not the rich soil I am use to. I sifted a bag to get approx 60 % wood chip, very few moister beads, and the soil dries at a fast rate. I am have lost a number of plants , a never before issue beforehand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too much garbage in the soil I purchased 15 bags of this soil for my garden. When I opened them up and started sifting through I notice several pieces of rock, plastic, hard plastic sticks, etc. I don't understand why these items are in this soil. Very disappointing and a poor quality product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This year Got my outdoor garden started used miracle grow like always. But this year it was different, not much fertilizer at all and it almost look like compost. Not like soil as always,it was stringy. My tomatoes seem good so far so maybe it's ok we'll see.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in the new soil I'm an avid gardener and was disappointed in the new all purpose soil. 1st off the new bag (.75 cu ft.) has 25% less then the old bags (1 cu ft.), for the same price. 2nd disappointed in the quality, I always purchased the flower and vegetable soil for all my in ground planting, and the new all purpose does not have the same texture and composition that the old flower & vegetable soil had. Rated 1 out of 5 by from bad product I always thought if I bought a name brand it would be good. I was wrong. I got the garden soil. The first two bags were good, but lots of big bark. The next bags were just like mulch, all bark. Can't use it for pots. In my area, lots of bark just makes lots of bugs. Very disappointed and angry. Why not be consistent?? so would not buy it again, even the potting soil had too much bark, I am going through and removing it for my house plants. You can't fool a dedicated gardener for 40 years. Every bag has too much bark, filler only for the price. Please respond.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a dependable source for starting my rose clippings. Each year we do a clinic on rooting roses--family roses, grave- yard or deserted "home-place" roses. I typically purchase Miracle-Gro garden All Purpose soil for use. We have experienced high success rates rooting these "special roses" and our friends again have connection with their past. Rated 1 out of 5 by from not happy with the results We bought 6 bags and planted our tomatoes in it, within 7 days all but 4 were dead. I smelled a strong odor of some kind of chemical. Very disappointed as I wait for my tomatoes every year. We will not purchase it again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Garden Soil Around Dig a hole, plant a vegetable, and fill with miracle-gro garden soil. That is all you need to do in order to grow amazingly healthy and robust vegetables. This garden soil always gives my plants a head start and keeps them growing all season long. I have used this soil in my garden for the last 6 years and have only had positive results. Miracle Gro soil is normally more expensive then the other soil brands but the quality of the soil is well worth the price. I will never choose any other soil to plant my garden with, this is the best soil around. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I am planning on planting a few small young shrubs in fabric containers. What type of soil should I use?

Asked by: birdyk
We would suggest a premium potting soil or potting mix for your container plants, such as Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix, SKU 1011492.

how long does this product last in a raised bed garden? can u just add fertilize and use for several years?

Asked by: barberman
Soil and soil amendment products, such as Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose, have no shelf life or expiration date. Many times more soil is added to the bed, so it is hard to determine how long it lasts. Regarding next season, the manufacturer has just come out with a product called Miracle-Gro Refresh2 Soil Revitalizer. It is to refresh raised beds in their second and subsequent years of use.

Planting first vegetable garden with my 8 yr old son, have built our area now need to fill with soil. Is this what we should use to plant his first garden?

Asked by: LukeTrex
Yes, this would be a great addition to existing soil for a vegetable garden.

Why is this not for use in a raised garden bed? It says in ground use only.

Asked by: Leaves2
Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose is not intended for use in containers. The soil may cause damage because it is too dense for most potted plants, and could suffocate their roots. Garden Soil All Purpose is designed as an amendment, and should be mixed thoroughly into native soil for better growing conditions. Raised beds are generally considered a cross between a container and in-ground. If wanting to use Garden Soil All Purpose in a raised bed you need to mix it with a good potting mix (half potting mix, half Garden Soil All Purpose). If you have already used Miracle-Gro Garden Soil All Purpose for potting your plants, watch your plants carefully for signs of stress and, if needed, repot them using a potting mix, such as Miracle-Gro Potting Mix.
