Rated 3 out of 5 by from Radio works fine but solar charging not so much I am awaiting an emergency alert my community is holding this coming week, so that will let me know how well the alert feature works. I have been trying to charge the battery using solar, but after two whole days in the sun, the battery still only shows two bars. How long does it take for solar to charge the battery?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice features I bought this weather radio to have for emergencies. So far, it is as advertised and I’m pleased with the features. Will see how the weather advisories actually work in a storm event.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Emergency Radio Though we haven't had to use ot in an emergency yet, it seems to have all of the features we wanted and as advertised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great! This is a great little emergency radio and flashlight. I purchased this because it has the weather band which is very helpful. I wish it had an AUX input but other than that, it's great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of features and excellent battery life! I have two similar radios that are lighter duty and smaller. The Midland radio has far superior battery life and the radio reception is much better. The carry handle and the ability to either use the rechargeable battery provided or alkaline batteries is a nice feature as well. The bright flashlight and ability to charge your phone off of the radio are nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and useful. As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I got to try the Midland ER310 Emergency Crank Radio E+Ready. I love this radio! It is light, rechargeable, can be used as a charging station, has a flashlight, and picks up great. It is an emergency crank radio, and can be solar charged. We enjoyed listening to music at the lazy river. It came in handy at the campsite to help plan outdoor activities accordingly. This is a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Will Like It! Although I gave it 5 stars, I have only two minor issues. They need to redesign the handle, I can not stand the unit on one end to point the flashlight straight up as a lantern to illuminate a room. Second, the micro usb charging port is hard to get to and hard to see to make sure you are putting the connector in right. I would use some sort of easy round charging port. The flash light is great, throw a very far beam of light at least 75 yards or more! All radio functions great, picks up some stations my other radios can not!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Support? I asked for and received the ER310 for Christmas. It has met my expectations so far until today I plugged it in to charge and nothing happened. The crank and solar charge indicators work fine, just the mini usb fails. Also, the rubber weather cover for the usb and headphone areas has two poorly constructed tabs that broke almost day one. thankfully the cover stays on from the molding but should be stronger

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Backcountry Approved As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get to test and review products in the field. I brought out this Midland radio with me on my most recent trek through the backcountry and overall found it to be a handy device. Two things that I love about this radio specifically in the camping setting include: 1. being able to set alerts for incoming severe weather. This can be particularly useful when out hiking as it eliminates the need to constantly scan the radio for updates or search for cell reception in order to access the weather & 2. strong reception and battery life. I found the reception and audio quality to be quite clear while using the device out in the backcountry. I had the radio playing for essentially 2 days straight without needing to recharge the device, which is particularly helpful when you do not have access to electricity. I did not love having to mess around with the device for quite a bit before discovering that the lithium ion battery needs to be removed and connected in order to start up the device initially. There also is no button protector for the power button and in a fully packed backpack, the radio is susceptible to randomly turning on and off at times. You could maybe avoid this by hooking the radio by its handle on the outside of the pack. At 2.95” x 6.85” x 9.61”, the radio is about the size of a loaf a bread and takes up approximately 3.2 L of space which is roughly 5% of a 65 L pack. I like to economize my pack weight and space as much as possible so I am not sure if I will take this out on every trip moving forward but certainly on the trips where the weather is uncertain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good reception I was lucky enough to receive and test this product as a Ranger for the Dyrt. I'm glad I chose this item, as I have already been through two good storms this year and this unit came in handy. Out in the woods and over on the coast during a rain and windstorm, I was surprised at the reception of both AM/FM radio and NOAA. The sound was good, especially for this type of unit. I also feel that this was very well built, what else can you expect from the first name in radios. I don't really have any criticisms, and I was looking. I guess you can't use the flashlight or radio function while charging your phone via included micro usb, but that's a trade off I'll take for the convenience of phone charging on the go. Solar is also nice, but that and the hand crank aren't the best mode of recharging the included Lith. Ion batt. Instead use the micro usb and charge via 110v wall outlet. All in all a good unit and well worth it, built to last and does what is expected form a emergency radio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this radio just before hurricane Irma. it ran for 2 days before i got to charge it after the storm. it still had two charge bars left so it would have gone more. solar charged it after that. worked great but takes more time to charge. not a complaint. huge piece of mind when your house is shaking and you have no power to be able to get updates on the storm. we were able to get the weather update that told us that Irma had turned a little east and we were through the worst of the storm. we had no power for the next 9 days but we had all the local info we needed thanks to this radio. buy it and put it in your hurricane kit now. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I remember Midland radios from back in the hay-day of CB’s, the 1970s. Always good quality and a good signal. I am a licensed Ham Radio Operator today and I am still impressed by the quality of workmanship and quality of signal. The ER-310 has many great features but one stands out for me; Other “emergency crank radios” can only be charged by solar or crank… both taking a long time. The ER-310 can also be charged with an included USB cable. This makes re-charging SO MUCH EASIER. I have bought 4 radios now; for myself and other Ham Radio friends. They all enjoy and appreciate these fine radios. Especially during Hurricane Season here in FLorida.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Over the years I have either purchased or use Midland radios and found them to be a good product. The E310 E+ emergency radio continues with the tradition. Two things about this radio that i have to be comment on. I can’t tell when the dog whistle is on or off. I read the manual for the E310 prior to purchasing it and it leads one to believe the antenna had a swivel feature which it does not. Having the antenna with the swivel feature would be great. One could hang the radio on a limb and position the antenna for the strongest signal. Present antenna requires the owner to turn their body around to get the strongest signal. In the mountains where I live this added feature would be great to have. The radio appears to be able to pick up most of the AM, FM and NOAA signals one would need in an emergency situation. I can recommend this radio “as is.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We’re very pleased with this radio. It performs exactly as advertised. I hope we never need to use it in a serious emergency, which here in Florida would be a major hurricane, and some occasional tornadoes, but I have confidence in it. A major issue here is power loss for extended periods, which has happened before. I like that it has multiple power options, in addition to plug-in AC. The solar, battery (both Li-ion and double-AA), plus hand crank sources should keep us connected. I also like 2 features I think are quite clever, but potentially important. One is the continuous SOS beacon. We’ve had hurricanes where flooding has marooned people onto their roofs, even into trees. This could attract rescue aircraft. Second is the dog whistle. We might not use that locally, but if we tried to evacuate with our car, and subsequently became blocked and stranded, perhaps had to abandon the car, search & rescue teams might find us. That’s also where its self-contained portability is a plus. My only suggestion might be making the radio water resistant. Since heavy rain & flooding are typical with most of the weather threats we’ve faced here.
