how long will it last

Asked by: antoine
Town&Country Aluminum Paint, #8-0020, is a high quality aluminum paint formulated with the highest grade leafing aluminum pigments, long wearing oils and synthetic resins. When applied according to package directions, to a properly prepared surface, this product will provide several years of durable, corrosion resistant protection to the surface. Those factors that will diminish the lifespan of T&C Aluminum Paint, and beyond the control of the coating, include improper or inadequate surface preparation, type of application, number of coats applied, type & condition of substrate, environmental exposures, etc. For best results, and longest lasting protection always follow label directions carefully.

can this b applied drectly over factoy painted roof

Asked by: antonie
In most cases, Majic T&C Aluminum Paint may be applied to factory finishes in sound condition, following necessary surface preparation. Any surface to be painted must be clean, dry and free of all dust, dirt, chalk, mold/mildew, and other surface contaminants that will affect the applied film’s ability to penetrate & adhere. Sand glossy surface with 80-100 grit paper to remove gloss, and create profile for a greater mechanical bond. Wire brush rusted areas to clean metal – then, for best results, prime with a rust-inhibitive primer and allow to dry. Follow application directions carefully, with specific attention to the recommended spread rate/applied thickness and allowable recoat times. This product is not recommended for use over Kynar®, Teflon® or other PVDF coatings.

Will this product be good to paint a barn roof also what can I use to cut or reduced to use in a sprayer

Asked by: Cherokee outlaw
Majic T&C Aluminum Paint is a great product for painting barn roofs with – Majic Aluminum Paint is a bright, quick leafing aluminum that offers excellent rust inhibitive properties. Necessary surface preparation obviously requires that the surface be clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, chalk, loose or peeling paint, loose and flaking rust, or other surface contaminants that would inhibit the penetration and adhesion of newly applied Aluminum Paint. If previously painted, glossy surface should be scuff sanded to allow for a good mechanical bond between new and existing coats of paint. Leafing aluminum paints are heavily pigmented and settlement in the bottom of the can should be expected – aluminum paints cannot be shaken, but must be stirred* thoroughly prior to, and during application (use of a drill mixer is recommended for initial stirring to return settled aluminum paste back into suspension) – Majic Aluminum Paint may be sprayed, at package consistency, via airless spray - we do not recommend thinning (reducing) for spray application. The reasons for this are (a) thinning with any conventional solvent (mineral spirits, naptha) will boost the VOC level to beyond a compliant level, (b) the resins, solvent and the pigment paste of aluminum paint are a very delicate balance – the addition of a reducing solvent will cause a faster settlement of the heavy aluminum pigment, possibly resulting in a streaked, or blotchy appearance, and (c) the addition of reducing solvents will lower the gloss and brilliance of the aluminum finish and may contribute to a more rapid “oxidation” of the film (causing the film to lose gloss and turn a dull gray). Depending on equipment used, Majic Aluminum Paint should be sprayed (airless) at > 1500 PSI, with a .015 - .017 tip.

How cold is to cold? to paint with this product on a metal roof and how soon before a rain before it is considered rainfast?

Asked by: Rman500
It is recommended that Majic T&C Aluminum Paint (8-0020) not be applied in temperatures below 50° F (air and surface temps) – and temps should remain reasonably constant for 8-12 hours after application. Cold temps can disrupt the curing process of oil/alkyd products, and result with a less-than-favorable performance or appearance – including, but not limited to, inconsistent gloss & brilliance, diminished adhesion and film hardness. For best results, read and follow package directions carefully in regards to application, and allowable re-coat times. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Paint only clean, dry surfaces, & don’t paint if heavy rain is expected within 12 hours. Product may be applied by brush, roller or spray - do not thin product for application. Clean tools & spills with Mineral Spirits.
