Rated 5 out of 5 by from DOG OR GOAT LIFE SAVER! I have used these for both goats and dogs and they are such a great way to provide CLEAN FRESH water to them! Just put them in a shaded spot, as the sun can make them hot. Also keep from freezing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is great. I have one that we've had for probably about 5-6 years and my dogs love it. I'm about to buy another one for a different fenced in part of the yard. They'll stand in line like their at a water fountain, its the cutest thing. Its great because the water is always fresh and not getting nasty and green in a bowl.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lixit-100 dog waterer Bought two , one for the front yard and one inside the back yard fence. It only took 2 or 3 times showing the dogs where to get water and they started using it. They work great! May freeze in real cold weather, but in E. Texas we don't have that much.

will this work for a gravity feed system?

Asked by: lasen
It will but it must be a very large one because it takes a lot of pressure to close the valve and keep it from leaking. You would need somewhere around a 20 gallon or more gravity feeder. That being said, there is no guarantee that it will not leak with a gravity feeder so this is not recommended.

how do you keep it from freezing?

Asked by: courtney93
If this product is installed outside, then it will need to be removed in freezing conditions unless your pipes are weatherproofed. There is no way to weatherproof the L-100 Faucet Waterer itself, unfortunately.

what holds it up? Do you just lay it on the ground or put it in a bowl....? How do you keep from having a mud puddle below it?

Asked by: CleeL
The Lixit Dog Waterer attaches to a standard water faucet or hose for support. To reduce the likeliness of a mud puddle forming, we recommend using a water basin or drip pan to catch the excess water that is released during use.

can this be used on an Iowa hydrant in rural setting

Asked by: bka1004
No, this will need to connect to a hose with a constant supply of water for the dog to access it readily.
