Hobart Endeavor Series Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet, 770820 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 111.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Causes eye fatigue/pain if you do a lot of TIG I bought this when I started taking welding classes and wasn't sure how far I'd go with welding. I started with a weekend class that did stick and MIG welding, then I started taking TIG classes. I chose this helmet in part because it had a two-year warranty, and that would get me through the welding program if I chose to do the entire thing. However, I am now having a lot of eye fatigue and soreness from doing TIG welding 3 hours per day Monday-Friday. It doesn't matter if I set it to shade 11, 12, or 13. Not sure what the issue is. The helmet has fresh batteries in it as well. Now I think I need to buy something better than this 1/30,000 second response helmet, though I'm sure some of my classmates have slower reacting hoods and no eye problems. Now I just read in the owner's manual that this helmet is not to be used in the overhead position. GREAT..... that would have been good to know in advance. Now I won't be able to use this in my stick welding class next semester. What a waste of money. Other than these two issues (eyes hurting is a pretty big one) I was satisfied with this helmet. It feels relatively well made, the headgear is comfortable, none of the parts feel flimsy in my hands etc. as well as it's not dumb looking like many helmets are. I would not recommend this unless you are a casual welder. I should have known better, it is called the "Endeavor" and is not a professional, but I am not a professional either, I'm a student in the endeavor of learning how to be a welder. ANYWAY I wish at least they would have specified that you can't use this hood in the overhead position somewhere online. I thought I did due diligence in choosing a welding helmet and technically this is a good value for the price but not if you are going to be doing TIG or overhead arc welding. Now I'm going to have to spend more money on something better. I'm only saying below that "yes I would recommend this to a friend" - I'd recommend it to a hobbyist but not a serious student/pro

I need #2 corrective lenses, can I add lens corrections in the helmet?

Asked by: Chip2017

Does it have a hard hat adapter?

Asked by: Rob P
The hood does not come with a hard hat adapter. Hobart does not offer a hard hat adapter but the Miller Electric hard hat adapter part# 222003 will work on this Hobart hood.
