Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not at all satisfied I purchased this seed on 4/19/19. Before application I dethatched and core aerated my lawn. It has rained nearly every day since. I do not see much new grass at all. I am very dissatisfied with this product. There defiantly was no problem with keeping seed wet. Mind you this was used for spots in lawn,50 lbs was overkill with very poor results. I tried to add photos but system would not let me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GREAT GRASS SEED I am very pleased with how this grass seed filled in areas where grass was not growing and it has made the lawn much thicker

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value Sowed over 1.25 acres with this stuff; came up well the first season. Overseeded again with this the following fall. After two seasons, I have the greenest and most weed-free yard in the neighborhood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete waste of money! Not only did I buy this grass seed I first aerated and spread lime (15 bags). Then after a few days, with rain in-between I spread the seed. I then spread Groundworks starter fertilizer. Since then we have had rain every couple of days which has kept the ground moist. So far I haven't seen a single blade of grass from this bag. That was three weeks ago. The only place I got grass coming up was where I used what was left of Pennington smart seed that I had from two years ago. Based on this I will never waste my time and money on Groundworks again. You may think you are saving money but you're not and you'll waste a lot of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag size lot of grass seed I sprayed this down with some Milorganite I grew up pretty good I filled in most bought some spots still stayed blank but for the most part it all filled in good I've been lucky enough to have rain for like 6 days in a row so that helped

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dies out I bought this product and planted it in early May, doing everything by the book. The grass came up and grew nicely, but as the spring and summer progressed, the grass has died out with large sections of no grass at all. I wish I had bought higher quality seed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Been using this product for the last five years for new home build and continuing expansion of my lawn. Used 150 lbs around new inground pool last year and about 80 percent of where planted this spring is plain dirt. Perennial means it supposed to come back year after year. A complete reseed is needed this year - thanks for a complete muddy mess - wont use again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but weeds I bought this seed March 2018 and mixed with Groundwork North Landscape mix and now I have nothing in my yard but weeds and clover. This product is junk! I deal with Tractor Supply quite often but I will never buy and seed products from them again. Now the cost to kill this junk and re-seed will be more that double what I expected. Thanks Tractor Supply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from happy so far, not covering close to 35,00sf I planted this in Putnam county NY last Sunday (6/12). The reason i tell you the dates and location is because there really isn't much info on rye grass in the north east for all season grass, hopefully this could help someone else like me who is new growing grass. It is now Monday night (6/20) and it started spouting up as of this morning. I am pretty impressed that so much came up so fast. To start, I laid down 2-3" of top soil over a newly filled space (about 2300 sqft) used about half a bag of the groundwork starter fert 8-24-6, one entire 50lbs bag of this rye seed, and hooked up a water timer and 4 sprinklers that each go off for 20 mins-3 times a day. The parts that look a bit bare at the top i have to water by hand about 1- 2 times a day when I get home since the sprinkler doesn't reach. So all i can really tell is the grass does come up fast with a lot of water but expect walked on patches to sprout later from being pushed down in the soil. Knowing this is fine thin grass i was prepared to seed heavy but when you actually lay the seed down with the spreader you will see that you need a lot and there goes the whole bag. I don't plan on leaving this grass on the timers in about 2 weeks, hoping the occasional weekly shower with keep them green, but i really don't know what to expect. Just wanted to show a few pictures, better than any amount of words.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not in store but easily ordered online I bought this 2 weeks ago, planted that evening before a rain the following day. I have been watering regularly and have germination already. I bought a perennial rye because of its ability to grow in shaded tree areas and doesn't require much maintenance. Also I wanted it to come back each year. I called around to get pricing and found that not many retailers or mom and pops carried and if they did it was 15-20 dollars more. Ship to store was free and only took 4 business days. Way to go TSC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Excellent seed and virtually weed free. Easy to plant with a pull behind De-thatcher or Aerator. This is a turf type product and not a pasture type. Great for lawns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GROWS GREAT I bought 2 bags early sept and its been mowed twice now. I put lime and starter fert and spread manure and now I have a beautiful pasture. Water just to dampen the soil every few days. used ground works starter and just be sure to get dry bags. I rated that bad but it did make my pasture grow great and real green

I read in your Q&A that Perennial ryegrass will not come back in the South. I live in Western NC. We have fairly hot July & Aug and my Annual Ryegrass has worked so far. Will it come back for me in NC?

Asked by: odiefred
No, annual ryegrass will die and not come back after 1 season.

How much area will it cover? Bag says "up to 35,000" but the description says only 350 sq. ft. I need to start new seed. I know it won't cover as much as if I were reseeding but 350-35,000 is a huge difference... I need to know which is right for new.

Asked by: Mysticalchicka
This product with cover about 30,00 sq. ft as over seeding with 50 lbs.

I need to overseed my lawn (Lot size is 1/3 acre with full sun, some shaded spots). My lawn and the neighborhood has lots of Bermuda. Would Perennial Ryegrass be suitable; and 50 lbs enough for my lawn? Is fall a good time to do it?

Asked by: Mo Ali
Yes perennial ryegrass would work great and 1 50lb bag would work for overseeding.
