Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stop selling junk Tractor supply Very disappointed in this. Forget about the fact that almost 50% of the product is costing. Because of the coating this will not flow through drop spreader. Spent day trying to overseed a pasture with slit seeder and spent most of my time trying to get seed to flow. Regardless of setting. The coating clogs and stop seed from moving. Will not buy this again. Why pay for 50% coating. An get high quality pasture mix from local farm supply for same cost and get 25 #s of seed instead

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Grass still not growing Didn't cover but 3/4 acre very thin. Followed instructions exactly. Purchased their spreader new 2020 used k31 without issue. Either bag was not to weight or it doesn't do what it says. Grass still hasn't grown in 3 weeks. Purchased 3 bags at nearly 70 each

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't take We bought severe bags to seed our new pasture last spring in south GA. NOTHING took. We hit a dry spell so kept it watered for weeks. I was hoping this winter some of the rye would come up, but still nothing. We are purchasing new seed this week but will try another type.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best equine forage grass seed ever! We have purchased several brands over the years and wasted our money on other brands from time to time. This grass seed has consistently Sprouted in 2 to 3 weeks and continue to grow throughout the season. It’s wonderful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price and quality seed Great price and the pasture is looking GOOD! I've used this seed before in other years with very good outcome. I buy it to overseed in the Spring now that the pastures are established, but I used it (and some other types to establish the pastures in the beginning). Happy with the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor forage I bought this in 2016. After careful management of 3 horses on three small paddocks I am disappointed at what is actually growing. Lots and lots of white clover and some red clover. The horses aren’t eating any of it. I am going to have to reseed using individualized seed and no “pasture” mix at another store that specializes in quality seeds. I was glad to see other reviews that listed my same complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Pasture Mix For Sheep Too I seeded down 12 acres of former forest converted into pasture and the seed has done wonderfully. Sheep graze well on it, the mixture has tolerated over-grazing situations, and even drought. In short it has been an ideal mixture for 5 years now and going strong. (It obviously is limed and fertilized per soil sampling)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from See for paddocks Buy this every year to over seed my paddocks for the horses. Works well grows fast. Just wish there was a little less clover. I put it down in March and by May pastures are grown enough for the horses

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Clover Takes Over! I seeded the horse pasture Fall 2016 and Spring of 2017 and all I have left this is clover....everywhere! It has taken over. I now have to overseed again this fall with a grass seed that has no legumes and will most likely have to use Pasture Pro in the Spring to remove the clover and any other weeds that pop up. I do not recommend this mix!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mixed seed bad bag Purchased about 3 months ago to put on a newly established pasture that gas been bare dirt for 6 months plowed it up spread the grass the rye came up great but so did nutgrass/nuts edge and it is the only place in my yard or my neighbors yard with this type of grass no other types of grass came up the rye died off in a matter of weeks and left me with a pasture of nutsedge grass that my horses can't eat....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic seed, way better than Scott's Bought this seed and Scott's shade mix to plant a new pasture in part sun part shade. The Scott's hardly came in at all whereas this came in thick and quick, even in shady areas. Germinated in under 7 days, looks amazing, withstands light grazing after just a few months of growth. Exceptionally happy, will continue to buy this for all pasture planting needs and also for patching up our backyard lawn.

Do we know if these seeds are suitable for frost seeding ?

Asked by: Jsnelling
Yes it can be suitable, but frost seeding is typically done with clover and legumes. Please make sure the timing of the application is done when the seed will not lay and rot. It is recommended to plant in March-April when the ground temperatures start to rise or early in the fall.

Are any of the seeds in the mixture treated with pesticide?  Is this seed suitable for an organic farm?

Asked by: Waltpalmer1
The GroundWork Pasture Grass Equine Forage Mix, North Mix, 25 lb. (686188699) is not an orgainic seed mixture, and would not be suitable for an organic farm

Has anyone from Casa Grande area of AZ used this with our sandy ground without adding dirt?  I'd also be using sprinklers to water (no irrigation).  Thanks

Asked by: GregCG
In that area of the country, watering with a sprinkler and sandy soil; getting sufficient water is unlikely.

I have 5 acres that I am making a pasture. It was corn fields prior to this. Will this seed work for the pastures?

Asked by: Grassroots
This will work, however, please note many chemicals are used on corn that have long residual effects that will prohibited grass from germinating like Atrazine.

Hi team, i am over-seeding a small pasture (2 horses 1 Mule) as product is designed for. I'd like to know if the remainder of the seed will fare well as lawn-quality in a bare dirt area (~10k sq. ft.). And what is the harm if the mixture is over-applied?

Asked by: clancopolis
Over applying is not a good idea, ever seed is competing for water and nutrients. To much seed in an area... It is recommend using as a overseed/patching you turf seed lawn. Forage grasses will look and feel much different then turf grasses, also these mixes will like have grasses not found in your yard
