Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing starter welder My husband wanted to learn how to weld so for Father’s Day I was going to buy him one. This bundle was cheaper then what others were so I was cautious about buying it, but after reading the reviews I took the chance on it. And I am glad I did, my husband loves it. It came with everything he needed expect the small grinder. I am very impressed and would definitely buy it again !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I have owned this welder for 1 year now. Still works as if it were new. I just welded up a custom exhaust on my hot rod and it did an excellent job. I highly recommend this product. Comes with a high quality ground. The wire that comes with the unit works fine for practice. Once I upgraded to a premium wire, it was a noticeable difference in the quality of my welds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for what it is. This bundle is great. It comes with everything you need to get started. The welder itself is great for hobbyists. This can in no way take the place of a large welder for major projects. But for light repairs or craft projects it is great.

Does it need gas to run

Asked by: Wenger1776
The 299 is a flux core welder and does not need or have a way to input an inert gas. Thank you for your question.

Can you use this (maybe with a different wire) to weld axle trusses, brackets or a roll cage?

Asked by: Swampy14
Per the Vendor: "Hello! The 299 is designed for DIY and light industrial applications and can run a multitude of different flux cored wires ranging from 0.023 to 0.035 inches in diameter (0.030 recommended for best performance). It is best for use with sheet metal and thin plate as the depth of the welds rarely exceeds 3/8 inches. It would be possible to use the 299 for your projects but it would require multiple passes and possibly preheat of the base material. Thank you for your question!"

Can it welding aluminum?

Asked by: Jerry ThreeFeathers
The 299 Flux Core welder can not weld aluminum. Aluminum MIG wire requires the Coverage of an inert gas which this machine can not supply. Thank you for your question.
