Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our girls like to drink year around. Works as expected, needed when temp drops and the local birds like it also. It last about 3 - 4 years and then I get a new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our semi-stray dog is thrilled! We have a semi-stray dog living on our front porch. She has her igloo dog house with heated mat (and other bedding away from the mat). She also has the ability to come inside our house if she wishes. She prefers to be outside, mostly. As the weather got colder, her original water bowl started freezing over. This bowl ensures she always has access to fresh water at just the right temperature. She couldn't be more pleased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't last a year I bought 3 of these heated bowls and they all have broke within a year of buying them. We wasted our money

It is below  23 degrees every day, is it dangerous for it to run constantly?

Asked by: Helping the cats
Not at all. It has a thermostat inside that will turn it on and off automatically. Just keep it filled with water, plug it into a GFCI outlet, and let the cats enjoy unfrozen water.

Would you provide some general information as to electric costs or consumption for the Ottumwa Iowa area or a similar area? If you would reply to me at my email address please. Thank you.

Asked by: Robia
This model is 60 watts of power or 0.06 kilowatts. To calculate usage cost, multiply kilowatts x your electrical cost/kwh and then multiply times number of hours in use per day. For example, if this ran 12 hours/day, and your electrical cost was $.10/kwh, then usage cost would be 0.06 x $.10 x 12 = $.07/day

Will this keep water from freezing if air temperatures are below zero?

Asked by: Miss07
Yes. They have been tested and designed to work to around -10 F. Could work in colder temperatures, but wind will play a factor.

Is this safe for dogs that chew on everything?

Asked by: jhatton0025
While it has a metal spring on the cord to "deter" chewing, if you have a dog that like's to chew on everything, including power cords, we would highly recommend you protecting the cord in an additional way such as routing it through a PVC pipe so they can get to it.

I want to use this in the chicken coup for the chickens. One of the reviews said it couldn't be used with an extension cord. I have to use an extension cord so has anyone had a problem using an extension cord?

Asked by: DebWV
The "Do not use with extension cord" is a required statement for these types of products. The product can be used with extension cord. Just make sure it's heavy duty, outdoor cord, as short as possible. Also we recommend using our Cord Connect water-tight cord lock (TSC sku #1042639) with it.
