Rated 1 out of 5 by from I returned it the next day, it did heat the space I wanted it to

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attractive & Efficient I've had several of this type of heater and what I really like about the Duraflame heater is that you only have to turn it on and off once per use! The other types I had required that you flip a switch on the back and then turn it on with either the remote or on the control panel on front of the heater. This heater is a one step power on or off and you're good to go. I was a little taken aback though when during the initial heating phase, there was a little rattle in the internal organs of the heater. This only lasted about a minute and when it warmed up to a certain temperature, the rattling stopped. It did the same thing while cooling down as well. I don't know if this is common with this model of heater or just mine in particular. When operating, it is quiet and heats my living room to a comfortable temperature. Overall, I am very tickled with my new heater and would certainly buy another of this brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and simple to operate I purchased a second identical Duraflame space heater because the other one worked flawlessly for several years. I also own an older version of this simple Duraflame that is no longer available and it is still working flawlessly for many years. I have tried other brands that are less expensive with more bells and whistles that are confusing to operate and unreliable from NT. Stick with the Duraflame brand, don't waste your time and $ with competitor brands. PS I have a space heater from NT for sale, cheap. Only works for 5 minutes then cuts off.

Does this heater have a thermostat? Will it automatically shut off when the room heats up to the preset temperature?

Asked by: cnc59
When in temperature setting mode press the arrow buttons to display your desired temperature. When the room reaches that temperature (or within a few degrees) the unit will shut off. It will come back on when the temperature in the room falls below the setting. Please keep in mind this is designed for supplemental heat only for up to 1000 square feet of living space.

Are these heaters pretty energy efficient or are they hard on electric bill.

Asked by: Dianalthea
Per Duraflame: Yes, electric is on average much cheaper than other methods used to heat your home. Depending on the electric rates in your area it costs around $.03 - $.06 per hour to run without heat and $.10 - $.13 with heat. Electricity rates vary depending on location. Electric fireplaces are a terrific option for zone heating. For comparison; gas fireplace manufacturers regularly advertise running costs of $.23/hour. This unit is a supplemental/secondary heating source.
