Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most awsome supplement ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have owned horses for over 40 years and have never been so impressed by the results of a supplement. I was told by my blacksmith to purchase this product when I rescued a horse that was in extremely poor condition. The results were truly amazing. The most noticeable proof of this was the ridgeline that became visable at the horses coronet band marking the day I started her on this supplement showing healthy hoof growing in above the unhealthy hoof. At that point I decided that this product would be fed to all the horses on my property and even the horses that I thought were already the picture health showed began to show a line in the new hoof growth and the quality of their coats was impressive. All this began 4 years ago and all my horses have never gone a day without DuMOR Ultra Shine added to their feed. Please continue making this product. My personal opinion is that this is the most important supplement for all over horse health and appearance ever made. Thank you for this great formula you have put together.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horses didn't like it I was buying a more expensive brand of omega and when it was not in stock at my TS store, I purchased this dumor ultra shine instead. I've heard they are similar so I thought it would be good either way. Right away I noticed the smell, it was chemically and very powdery. A breeze would blow it away. My horses didn't eat it well so I would wet the grain to make sure it would stick. I would still find some at the bottom of the bins. I finished the whole bag and didn't notice the shine on my horses anymore. I fed them each one full cup a day as recommended. I switched back to the more expensive brand. Yes it costs more, but buying something cheaper doesn't do any good if the horses don't eat it and benefit from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, right price! My horses look great! And it’s affordable! This is really a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works. I bought this to improve the coat of a yearling. I also use it for my stallions to increase production at the recommendation of a vet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent product I bought this on the recommendation of another horse owner. We have over a dozen horses, all ages and a range of breeds. They all ate/eat it just fine when mixed in their food. However, the form in which it comes, a powder, is so light and blows away or does not stick to our feed so we end up wasting some each feeding. I will have to see if I see any change in the horses after finishing what we purchased-they are already looking good, this was a booster. I may change to a pelleted type of supplement in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nutritionally balanced, reasonable price I bought this feed a few days ago and will update once I've had a chance to see its effects. I did a lot of research before buying a flax supplement, and went into TSC intending to buy beet pulp to make my own. But when I looked over the nutritional information on this product I decided to give it a try. It has a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio (which is why there are omega 6s as well, which are equally important to the equine diet anyways, just more abundant in grain than omega 3s) and stabilized flax seed (most likely the reason for the chemically smell) for less than buying unstabalized flax at a store or any feed mill I've found. At one cup a day this bag will last me over two months (63 days exactly according to my kitchen scale), making it the cheapest omega 3 supplement I've found. I have high hopes for this supplement in helping with my hard keepers weight and mild bug allergies, plus who doesn't love a shiny coat?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product I have been using this for about a month now on a horse that was paper thin when I got her. She wastes a lot of hay so I combined this with some alfalfa and grass pellets and ts all stock feed. man her hips started filling out after a couple of weeks she looks like a new horse and her color is pretty

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this stuff A great alternative to the more expensive equine omega supplements. Not always in stock at my Tractor Supply, but now I can order it online. Never quit making this stuff, DuMor!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Room for improvement!! This product needs to delete the rice bran which is an Omega 6, which is inflammatory. Instead Use only Flax seed, Omega 3, Which is anti inflammatory. I would also like to see a ratio of the exact amount of Flax to rice bran on the label so I could be more informed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Visible changes I do a lot of research before trying or switching feed around. My OTTB, now 28, has always been a hard keeper due in part to his problematic teeth- he can chew but has trouble pulling grass so is supplemented with soaked Timothy in his grain-free feed. As a senior with potential metabolic issues and mystery dermatitis (we believe it's a beet pulp intolerance), I have to be very careful with his diet. He was neglected prior to my owning him, never has had a great looking coat, horrible white line and cracking issues with hooves, just constantly requiring something new for care. He was on a competitor's brand of this product which was working beautifully but was getting expensive so I compared this product with Omegafields Horse shine and was pleasantly surprised by how similar they are. Simon gets 1 cup daily total, half in the morning and at night mixed with his forage-based feed and 1/2 cup of Timothy pellets for additional forage, combined with being turned out 24/7 with stall and water access at will. His hooves grow slowly and being retired and barefoot he often self-trims while out grazing with his pasture mate. There is a noticeable "health mark" of growth about half way down his hooves where he was previously showing a crack that has bothered him for years. It literally stops half way, which is the point at which I added this supplement to his diet. The color is healthy and consistent without signs of stress. No sign of the crack, no more medicated applications, no more constant treatment for fungus and being trimmed cloven-hoof style to deter bacteria. Good hooves come from good general health, and this is a winning product. My QH is also on a maintenance dose of 1 cup daily, and both horses now have fuller manes and tails with new growth showing constantly, excellent hoof health and my grey is even dappling on the DuMor product. The ingredients are excellent supplements for their daily feed without going overboard, and it's nice to have a single source combination. My grey has sensitive skin - baby shampoo and plenty of rosemary/mint conditioner work well to reduce the dandruff and general irritation, which are nicely controlled on this product too. His mane was short and thin two years ago - he just had a trim, everything falls and stays nicely on the right, and his coat in general has filled in. Oh, and my vet just raved about this product to me - she's had all of hers on it for a couple of months and has been impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Ultra Shine Recently switched from another manufacturer's ultra shine product to Dumor Ultra Shine and within a few weeks the difference was amazing! Her coat is so shiny, shes bright eyed and just seems in better condition overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great My 18 y/o mare has been on this supplement for almost 2 years. When I bought her she didn't shed winter coat, had a few fungus spots on skin. Vet said she had Cushings (she does not). After 6 months she shed normally, great coat and skin. Spends a Michigan winter outside, no blanket. I pair this supplement with DuMor Hoof and get all critical nutrients. She also has free choice hay (BEST THING EVER), some grain and these 2 supplements daily. Doing awesome! I had a professional nutrition consult from Eleanor Kellon MDV, these 2 supplements pretty much cover her recommendation at a very reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great supplement with an affordable price I did a lot of research on supplements for horses with anxiety and tried others before buying this one. I saw a general overall improvement in his health and better concentration during work. He is an easy keeper and I prefer a forage based diet so he is getting only a little sweet feed. I wanted to see if it was really the supplement so I pulled him off of it for 3 weeks. He started back to his old anxiety levels and also noticed some stiffness. Further research shows that flax seed has antiinflammatory properties. Back on the supplement for my boy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Senior Horses I bought this for my senior horse to help her coat and gain weight. I am more than impressed with the results I've seen in just the two weeks I've been feeding it! Her coat is much shinier and she's put on a few pounds. I recommend this to any horse owner with a "hard keeper".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed with the results! I saw this in TSC and thought what the heck... I'll try it. Let's see if it'll help my horse finish shedding out. Everything I read said it would take 2 weeks. In less than a week she has finished shedding completely, the dapples are popping, and she has quit rolling in the mud every day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Smell I just bought my first bag of Dumor Ultra Shine today. I was very excited to save money and get a good product from what the label stated it was comparable to Omega Horse Shine Grande. I have been feeding the regular Omega horse shine as the grande was just to expensive to feed 3 horses. I opened the bag and it has a horrible chemical smell. I put it in my feed bin hoping that it would smell better with a little air. Hours later still the bad smell. I feed it to the horses and two would eat it but didnt seem to like it as well as other feed. The third horse put his lip in the air in protest, he tipped the bucket over and would not even look at it if I put it up to his mouth. I smelled it after it was mixed with grain and other supplements and it still smells really bad. Maybe I got a bad bag or maybe its just how the stuff smells. My bag is going back to Tractor Supply tomorrow and I will go back to Omega horse shine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Miracle drug I started giving this to my horses Sept 2014, and not for the hair and coat but for the ground flaxseed in it and the omega-3 properties, which helps joints. This past month we have realized our 34 year old mare is no longer limping, which she has done for years, and not only that she is now running with the other horses. The Ultra Shine is the only addition to their diet we have made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Keeper I have to admit I like a pretty horse so I was looking for something that would help with coat, hooves, and vitamins. Last summer we got a neglected rescue with no muscle, yucky coat, and under weight. We started her on Ultra Shine in November. By spring she was wonderful, shiny, with great muscle tone. At 14 h, 850 lbs, an easy keeper, we top dress 1/3 cup Ultra Shine on top of her Nutrena Special Care daily. It has worked great. We check her weight regularly and adjust her training and/or exercise as necessary. At this rate the bag of Ultra Shine will last a very long time so we repacked it into an airtight container to help keep it fresh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome nutrition, low sugar/starch, and gr8 value I did a lot of research on equine nutrition and found that most horses do not need grain! While hard keepers and hard workers may need grain to keep weight on, most horses would do well to avoid the carbs, sugars, and starches found in commercial feeds. The majority of a horse's diet should come from forage, but forage quality varies, so a ration balancer supplement like Dumor Ultra Shine can ensure your horse is getting all the right nutrients. I shopped all the major feed suppliers and this product has everything I wanted, and is economical to feed! A 20-lb bag lasts our 1050-lb horse almost 2 months! It's very low in carbs/sugars/starches, yet contains 19% protein and flaxseed (for Omega 3's, 6's, and 9's, calories, glossy coat, hoof health, better digestion, less heat and excitability, stable blood sugar, and potassium). It's got all the right vitamins (A, B3, B6, B12, D3, E, thiamine, and riboflavin), plus all the amino acids horses need (not just the top few like most balancers). And it has magnesium, cobalt, niacin, biotin (also important for healthy hooves), folic acid, calcium, manganese, selenium, copper, and good fat and fiber. It's also important to have more calcium than phosphorus (I am kind of surprised at the feeds and supplements that have an inverse Ca/Ph ratio!), and this balancer also has that. And no, I don't work for Tractor Supply, or even the company that manufactures this product for TSC. I'm just a customer who is very impressed with this product, and hope the word gets out about it so that more people use it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comparable to Omega Grande Complete I compared the nutritional profile of DuMor Ultra Shine to Omega Grande Complete.  They are very similar, but the DuMor is much cheaper.  I feed this to my two horses, a hard keeper and an easy keeper.  It has helped with their hooves and skin.  I feed a cup to the hard keeper and she benefits from the extra calories.  Their coats look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I have a VERY hard to keep TB. He is worked heavily and enjoys every minute of it. This product has helped with the "red headed TB skin issues". And has been a big help in weight gain/maintenance during our very active season. Highly recommend, well worth a try at 1 cup a day, a bag will show results long before it is half gone..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior & Affordable Supplement My family has six horses and one bag lasts us almost two weeks. They have been on it for a month, and I have seen improvements in their coats (healthy dapples in late September!), manes (shiny), hooves (less cracks in West Texas), and good weight (possibly better utilization of their hay). Check the ingredients list---very much like Omegashine but more affordable---has flaxseed and rice bran! I reccommend getting a rain check from your TSC in order for them to keep it in stock and keep your horses on it, you will not regret it.

Can vegetable Oil be fed with this supplement to increase calories for a hard keeper?

Asked by: Kmrider
It will depend on how much of the product is used daily. Suggest to start out with a small amount of added vegetable oil and gradually increase over 2-3 weeks to get desired results without causing digestive upset. Starting out the daily level given can be split and administered a couple times a day.

I bought ultra shine for weanlings that I will wean soon.  This product seems to be a good supplement when fed with alfalfa pellets and 16% pelleted feed.  At what rate should it be fed and what results should I expect.

Asked by: cowboys are us
A weanling (typical riding horse breed) should be fed ¼ to ¾ cup of Ultra Shine, depending on the actual size (age) of the weanling and whether it is being prepared for a show or sale. At the very least, one should expect a healthy and shinier coat. Depending on the quality of the feed and hay, the development of the weanling could also be improved.

How do you read the package date? They have 2 bags available in the store but they appear to be old

Asked by: Horsecrazy granny
The lot code number on the Ultra Shine bag is not decipherable from in the store. The number on the sewn strip on the bag must be sent to DUMOR for determination.
