Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Goat Feed The store in Summerdale, AL nearest me did not have any of this feed instock. The Daphne, AL store did. I ordered 6 bags online for curbside pickup. At pickup the staff only loaded 5 bags of this feed on the truck I had sent to pick it up without telling my delivery person that the store only had five, and not the six the shop online website showed; but the receipt did show that they only charged me for the five loaded. When my delivery person dropped off the five bags at my farm, the first bag I opened was green with mold! I called the store and the manager did refund the price of that moldy bag. I opened up the other 4 bags to check for quality. Of the other 4 bags 3 had weevels! I had to use it because I had no choice at this point. So of the 5 bags, only 1 was of standard quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Feed but Inconsistent like that is 16% protein, doesn't have an absurd amount of salt, and that the Ca:P is close to 2:1. Overall, it seems well-balanced. But the actual bags varied greatly as far as molasses content - some were absolutely coated to the point of being sticky, other were very dry. I "solved" this by buying a couple bags at a time, enough to mix with the previous bags to give it more consistency as far as texture/molasses content. Did have one bag (the last) with a foreign object in it.

Does this feed have enough copper for goats or should I be using a supplemental copper also? Same question for ammonium chloride?

Asked by: Alex28
This product contains between 40.00ppm and 45.00ppm of copper (CU). The copper requirement for goats depends a bit on life stage, size and productivity. A 100-lb breeding age doe needs a little over 9 mg per day, but that same doe during early lactation needs almost 20 mg/day. So if said doe eats 2 lbs. of DuMOR Sweet at 40 ppm (which means 40 mg/kg feed, or 18.2 mg/lb. of feed) then she will get 36 mg total copper (the guarantee is for total copper, not added copper). Not all of this copper will be available to the animal, so we can estimate that 2 lbs. of feed will be very close to her requirement. If she is not lactating, the extra copper does not hurt her; it is not high enough to be detrimental. This product does not contain ammonium chloride.
