Q&As

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Q: Is this model a brushless model? Or does it use brushes?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, the Dremel 3000 Variable Speed Rotary Tool is not a brushless model; it uses a brushed motor with carbon brushes that are designed to be replaceable. These brushes naturally wear down over time and should typically be checked after every 50 to 60 hours of use to maintain optimal motor performance and extend the life of your tool.

The Fantastic Dremel 3000-1/25 Model Making Essen

I do dollhouses and dollhouse furniture, model constructions and miniatures, etc. using wood. My craft workshop includes two Dremel rotary tools (Dremel 395 and 200 working so great) among other Dremel tools (Dremel Moto saw, Dremel Trio, Dremel oscillating tool, etc.), attachments and accessories and this Dremel 3000 is my third Dremel rotary tool bought it 6 years ago. I liked this tool, and it comes in handy for a variety of different uses. It comes with one attachment, 24 assorted accessories and a carrying case. I'm a little bit disappointed in the accessories that come with this set and would ask if one could choose from different choices of what kinds of bits may want to come with the kit as some of the bits included in the kit, I already have and others aren't particularly useful to me and I'll need to buy a set of accessories that have the bits I need. However, it is a great tool for all kinds of jobs around the house and in my woodworking hobbies. It's powerful, variable speed, very solid construction, the grip feels good in my hand. In addition it features the EZ Twist integrated wrench nose cap accessory allows to switch between bits without the need for a separate Dremel wrench. The Dremel 3000 is fine and is 100% compatible and work together and efficienty with all of my Dremel accessories and attachments which are so vital to the productivity and diversity of the tool. Dremel 3000 was the right upgrade choice for my needs it is a joy to use and indispensable in the building of models, I am quite happy and I would highly recommend it to anyone. A new buyer will find the Dremel 3000-1/25 complete and ready to be used for wide range of applications right after unpacking including cutting, grinding, sanding, carving and polishing a variety of materials.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Useful and affordable!

This little kit is both useful and affordable. You can also purchase all the accessories ( bits, saw blades, polishing wheels, etc...) that you need for your project. I build harps for a hobby, so I like to use the small router bits on my work. They fit easily into the tightest spaces and the variable speed of the tool makes it easy to control.

The Goto Tool

What need be said about this tool really? It’s gotta be the tool that any handyman worth his salt has in in his bag. I’m not sure about the other rotary version that Dremel produces, but this has got to be the main one most people end up purchasing. That’s because it’s small and compact enough to do all kinds of detailed work. Yet powerful enough to get most any job done you’d want to do with a rotary tool of this sort. This is an upgrade for me after my 300 model turned up missing. And although I can’t really list what all might have changed about it, the one thing I know for sure is different is the built-in wrench for the collate nut. That was a huge improvement! This kit also contains a shield attachment that my old one didn’t have. Something that I feel adds a lot of extra safety to the device. And the selection of bits they include in the kit is enough to get anyone started on there way to becoming a Dremel fan for life. Love it!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Updated Ease Of Use!

I have used a Dremel Rotary Tool in various models for the past 17 years with great success and my general preference has been for the plug in version in my household and artwork uses of my personal Dremel tools. I have tested the Dremel 3000, which I used with the Dremel Chuck attached as personal preference, and a part I have used out of habit since Dremel introduced it to the market. The EZ Twist nose cap works well with the provided collets that come with your standard attachments… Line up the flat sides on each and a quick twist to tighten or loosen collet’s grip. The provided attachments that come with the 3000 are great to get a feel of the wide range of work that you can accomplish with just this single Dremel Rotary Tool, and as you focus on what type of tasks you expect out of the 3000 you will can purchase added accessories that speed up and free up its use to your exact liking. The Motor on all the models I have used have held up well over time and still works after 17 years of use, my addition purchases of newer Dremel Rotary Tool models was an upward move in RPM as with the 3000 that provides 3500 RPM of performance. The improvement in the Dremel 3000 I find most appealing is its compact size with the 3500 RPM and the Pen Grip adaptation on the featured EZ Twist nose cap as I do most of my artwork with a pen grip on my Dremel. The balance and weight of the 3000 is fine either in using the Pen Grip or Body grip, and the advantage to that is in time of use without tiring your wrist. Finally, the 3000 recessed toggle for the Variable Speed Control is a great design improvement over other models; the Variable Speed Control knob is now inset into the Dremel Tool body to prevent you from accidentally moving the RPM speed while working with your Dremel Tool. I found in testing this Dremel 3000 Rotary Tool it to be well suited equally to the hobbyist or the job site in the modified design, and capable of driving such new Dremel products as the Plunge Router, Dremel Workstation.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Versatile, comfortable, and easy to use

The Dremel 3000-1/25 Variable Speed is a smooth, comfortable rotary tool that I’ve used on half a dozen things in the last few days. I was able to make a decorative display base for which to showcase a model car (along with Dremel’s plunge router and router bits). I’ve also used it to file away excess wood on a cabinet that wouldn’t close correctly. This tool saved me much time and splinters when I used it to sand some rough edges on freshly cut wood. I was able to polish a decorative rock that had been tumbled long ago but needed scuff marks taken out. Additionally, I cut away some nails that extended beyond where they should exist. I even took it to my craft room to distress some paper as was scrapbooking a rustic layout. The upgrades of this tool make it more comfortable and much easier to use than many other rotary or hand tools, in my opinion. Changing the accessories can be done in a flash and it feels better (than my older rotary tool) in my hands overall. As someone who has medical issues that can affect my grip, I really appreciate all the comfort and help I can get in that department and this tool is certainly a step above. It’s versatile. It’s comfortable, and it’s also dependable. It’s Dremel! I love it!

Yes, I recommend this product.

The tool itself is great. if you are looking for a tool to replace and older unit this will fit the bill... use the included guard to keep bits of dust and the such out of your eyes... makes a great replacement for a multi-pro 365. have used it to cut holes for a prototype control board for a maker project.
